What causes testicular retraction?

Men have two testicles located in the scrotum. Their main function is to produce sperm and secrete male hormones. However, testicular retraction is an abnormal phenomenon, also known as testicular retraction. The following is a detailed introduction.

Cause

This is more common in children aged 3-10 before puberty. The reason is that after the infant period, the testosterone level is low. When they reach puberty (around 13-4 years old), the testosterone rises again and the testicles of most of these children will drop again.

treatment

For this reason, I suggest careful observation to determine whether it is true cryptorchidism. If it has not come out by puberty, orchiopexy surgery can be considered.

Some doctors use hormones to treat cryptorchidism, but the success rate is not high, at 6% (beta HCG hormone) and 19% (LHRH hormone) (NEnglJMed1986;314:466). Treating retracted testicles may be more effective.
