At what age can a man no longer have an erection?

Men are very concerned about their sexual ability, but as they age, their sexual ability will decline until they lose the ability to have an erection. Usually, men's sexual function will gradually decline between the ages of 40 and 55.

1. Human aging is closely related to human gonadal function. Although aging starts at different times for different people, it will happen sooner or later. Between the ages of 40 and 55, men will experience a transition from gonadal function to decline, which will manifest in changes in emotions, psychology, interests, energy, appetite, sexual desire, and other aspects.

2. Before other organs age, the testicular tissue undergoes degenerative changes, which are manifested as a slow and progressive atrophy of the testicles. This can be confirmed in testicular biopsy. The age and speed of physiological degeneration of testicular tissue often vary from person to person. The general trend is that this change worsens with age.

3. Aging causes the lamina propria and basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules to thicken, and then the spermatogenic epithelium becomes thinner, the diameter of the seminiferous tubules becomes smaller, and the lumen is blocked. The interstitial matrix around the cells gradually undergoes local fibrosis, causing some adjacent seminiferous tubules to become completely fibrotic, while others remain normal. Degenerative changes in the testicles are often accompanied by a decrease in blood circulation, followed by a decrease in the amount of semen and the total number of sperm, an increase in the percentage of inactive and abnormal sperm, and a decrease in the quality of seminal plasma.

4. The reduction of testicular weight and volume, the decrease of male hormone activity, the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, adrenal gland and gonadal function are all related to testicular aging. The rapid development of testicles during puberty has brought a variety of magical changes to the body, and now its slow degeneration will also have an important impact on the whole body. These morphological and physiological changes will not become obvious until after the age of 50, while the subjective feeling of menopausal sexual dysfunction is about 10 years earlier.
