What are the causes of testicular torsion?

All male friends should pay attention to the disease of testicular torsion, because it will not only bring physical health problems, but also affect life. There are several reasons for testicular torsion, such as developmental abnormalities and stimulation of the levator testis muscle.

The testicles are located in the scrotum, connected to the body by a tissue called the spermatic cord on each side. The spermatic cord has blood vessels that provide blood circulation to the testicles, so the spermatic cord is the lifeblood of the testicles. The testicles are connected to the scrotum through a tissue called the mesentery, which fixes the testicles to the scrotum. Some fetuses will have one or both sides of the mesentery too long during development. After birth, the testicles and spermatic cords are very mobile. In the event of sudden force or violent vibration, the testicles and spermatic cords will twist more than 360 degrees, also known as spermatic cord torsion.

1. Testicular torsion is not uncommon and can occur in people from newborns to the elderly, but the incidence is higher in children and people aged 20 to 25. This torsion may be due to testicular necrosis and removal. The longer the delay, the greater the possibility of testicular dysfunction. Even if the testicle is not removed, the sperm function of the testicle is often damaged due to prolonged ischemia, resulting in testicular atrophy. The essential cause of torsion is generally congenital malformation of the reproductive organs.

2. If the levator testis is stimulated during exercise, trauma, or sleep, causing it to contract and strengthen, the fibers of the levator testis will become spiral, and the weight of the testicles will make it more likely for people with cryptic testicles, especially those with only one exposed testicle, to develop this disease. Testicular torsion is more likely to occur at night or in the early morning.

3. The testicles are connected to the scrotum through a tissue called the mesentery, which fixes the testicles to the scrotum. Some fetuses have one or both sides of the mesentery that are too long during development. After birth, the testicles and spermatic cord are very mobile. In the event of sudden force or violent vibration, the testicles and spermatic cord will twist more than 360 degrees.
