What to do if your thyroid gland is high? How to treat high thyroid gland

Hyperthyroidism is an abnormal condition of the thyroid gland. People often equate hyperthyroidism with hyperthyroidism, but this is not the case. Although one of the symptoms of hyperthyroidism is hyperthyroidism, how should we treat hyperthyroidism? In addition to taking care of some daily precautions, we should also pay more attention to our diet.

1: Daily conditioning for high thyroid

1: Have a regular daily routine, and combine work and rest. Although patients eat and drink a lot, their digestion and absorption are poor, and their bodies are relatively weak. Generally speaking, patients with mild symptoms should not stay up late, eat excessively, or engage in strenuous activities such as long-distance running, swimming, and mountain climbing; patients with severe symptoms should rest quietly or even rest in bed. In addition, since hyperthyroidism patients often have exophthalmos, which paralyzes the extraocular muscles, they are prone to visual fatigue and swelling of the eyeballs. Some patients feel swelling and pain in their eyeballs when reading books, newspapers, and especially when watching TV. Therefore, patients with this disease should read less books and newspapers, avoid watching TV, and reduce eye stimulation and visual fatigue.

2: Avoid adverse mental stimulation. Clinically, patients with hyperthyroidism often have their condition worsen. Tracing back to the cause, patients often have adverse stimulation before their condition worsens. For example, they quarrel with colleagues or family members over a small matter and cannot control themselves. Therefore, patients should learn to control their emotions. Family members and colleagues at work should understand the patients and create a better environment to avoid mental stimulation.

3: Control and avoid iodine-containing and irritating foods. If patients eat iodine-containing foods, it is easy to cause the thyroid tissue to harden, and the enlarged lumps will be hard to dissolve, making the patient's condition difficult to recover. Therefore, hyperthyroid patients should not eat more iodine-rich foods such as marine fish and kelp. At the same time, patients with hyperthyroid heart disease should avoid irritating foods such as raw onions, raw garlic, chili peppers, and alcohol.

4: Prevent infection. Hyperthyroidism patients have low total white blood cell counts and low granulocyte counts, which can easily lead to infection. If an infection occurs, it can cause the controlled hyperthyroidism to relapse or worsen, or even cause a hyperthyroid crisis. Therefore, we must learn to prevent various infections, and once signs of infection are found, we should control them as soon as possible.

2. Dietary Principles

1: High calorie: It depends on the clinical treatment needs and the patient's eating habits. Generally, it is increased by 50%-70% compared to normal, and each person can be provided with 3000-3500Kcal of calories per day.

2: High protein: Generally, each person needs 1.5-2g of protein per kilogram of body weight per day.

3: High vitamins: mainly supplement B vitamins and vitamin C.

4: Appropriate amount of minerals: mainly potassium, magnesium, calcium, etc.

5: Avoid iodine: Iodine is an important element for synthesizing thyroid hormone. Within a certain limit, the amount of thyroid hormone synthesis increases with the increase of iodine dosage. If the dosage exceeds the limit, the synthesis and release of thyroid hormone will be temporarily inhibited, and the symptoms will be relieved quickly, but this inhibition is temporary. If high-iodine food or medicine is taken for a long time, the thyroid gland will "adapt" to the "inhibition" of iodine, the synthesis of thyroid hormone will be accelerated again, the accumulation of thyroid hormone in the thyroid gland will increase day by day, and a large amount of accumulated thyroid hormone will be released into the blood, causing recurrence or aggravation of hyperthyroidism.

Three: Thyroid hormone is a variety of vitamins

Hormones necessary for metabolism. During hyperthyroidism, metabolism is enhanced, the body's need for vitamins increases, and the content of vitamins B1, B2, C, A, D, E, etc. in the tissues decreases; the absorption and utilization of niacin is impaired, and niacin deficiency may occur.
