Methods for treating fractures, fracture treatment steps and dietary therapy

Fractures are mostly bone injuries caused by external force. The treatment methods vary depending on the degree and location of the fracture. But in general, the treatment of fractures is inseparable from the three steps of reduction, fixation, and functional exercise. In addition, some foods that complement the treatment can be eaten during the treatment of fractures.

1. Fracture treatment steps

1: Reduction is to restore the displaced fracture ends to their normal or close to original anatomical relationship, so as to restore the support function of the bone. There are two methods of reduction: closed reduction and surgical reduction.

2: After the fracture is fixed and reduced, it is unstable and prone to re-displacement, so different methods should be used to fix it in a satisfactory position so that it can heal gradually. Commonly used fixation methods include: small splints, plaster bandages, external fixators, traction and braking fixation, etc. These fixation methods are called external fixation. If it is fixed by surgical incision with steel plates, steel needles, intramedullary nails, screws, etc., it is called internal fixation.

3: Functional training increases blood circulation in the tissues around the fracture by contracting the muscles of the injured limb, promotes fracture healing, and prevents muscle atrophy. It also prevents adhesion and capsule contraction of the joints that are not fixed by active or passive movement, so that the function of the injured limb can be restored to its normal state before the fracture as soon as possible.

2. Dietary treatment for fractures

1: Red bean and safflower soup Ingredients and preparation: 60g red bean, 10g safflower. Boil red bean with water, add safflower to boil water to extract juice, add brown sugar to taste. Drink in 2 times. Efficacy: Red bean disperses blood, safflower promotes blood circulation and reduces swelling. Suitable for the early stage of fracture. Pregnant women are prohibited to use.

2: Rose and Chuanxiong Soup Ingredients and Preparation: 9g rose, 10g angelica, 10g Chuanxiong, 3g safflower. Put all ingredients into a pot, add water and boil to extract juice, add white wine to drink. Efficacy: Angelica and Chuanxiong can promote blood circulation and relieve pain, while rose and safflower can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. Suitable for the early stage of fracture. Pregnant women are prohibited to use

3: Bonesetting and swelling-removing soup Ingredients and preparation: 1kg pork bone, 50g purple salvia miltiorrhiza, 250g soybean. Wash the salvia miltiorrhiza first, put it into a pot and add appropriate amount of water to boil for about 1 hour, pour out the juice and cook it with the pork bone and soybean. After it is cooked, add a small amount of cinnamon and salt and cook for a while. Take 2 to 3 times a day. Efficacy: Salvia miltiorrhiza can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, while pork bone can replenish bone marrow, set bones and tendons, and is suitable for the late stage of fracture. Pregnant women should not use it.

4: Panax notoginseng black chicken soup Ingredients and cooking method: 1 black chicken weighing about 500g, 5g Panax notoginseng, appropriate amount of rice wine and salt. Kill the black chicken, remove the hair and internal organs, and wash it clean. Wash and slice Panax notoginseng, put it into the chicken stomach, put it into the pot together, add appropriate amount of water, rice wine and salt, boil it over high heat, then simmer it over low heat for 2 hours. Efficacy: Panax notoginseng promotes blood circulation, removes blood stasis, and promotes new blood. Black bone chicken replenishes deficiency, strengthens tendons, and sets bones. Suitable for the late stage of fractures. Pregnant women should not use it.
