What is the best medicine for acute orchitis? Choose between Chinese and Western medicine depending on the situation

In medicine, the most traditional treatment for orchitis is to use antibiotics and analgesics. If the condition is more serious, surgical drainage will be used. Nowadays, with the continuous advancement of medical technology, some new drugs are more effective in treating acute orchitis.

1. Western medicine treatment

(1) General treatment: bed rest, local hot compress and scrotal elevation.

(2) Antibiotics are ineffective for viral orchitis and Chinese medicine should be used to treat it.

2. Chinese medicine treatment

(1) Damp-heat descending: fever with chills, swollen and painful testicles, hard and dark urine, dry stool, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, and stringy, slippery and rapid pulse.

Treatment method: Clear away dampness and heat, detoxify and relieve swelling.

Prescription: 10g each of Scutellaria baicalensis, Fructus Akebiae, Fructus Akebiae, Fructus Plantagoeia (wrapped and decocted), Rhizoma Cynomorii, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae, 6g of Radix Bupleuri, 12g of Radix Glycyrrhizae, 15g of Gentiana scabra, 20g each of Honeysuckle and Toosendan.

(2) Qi stagnation and blood stasis: The testicles gradually swell and become hard to the touch. There is mild pain. The tongue has dark edges with ecchymosis, a thin white coating, and a stringy and slippery pulse.

Treatment method: Promote Qi and blood circulation, and disperse stagnation.

Prescription: 10 grams each of tangerine seed, costus root, bitter orange, Magnolia officinalis, Toosendan, peach kernel, and Corydalis yanhusuo, 15 grams each of kelp and seaweed, 6 grams of Akebia, 15 grams each of Rehmannia glutinosa, Radix Rehmanniae, Radix Yuanshen, chrysanthemum, and dandelion, and 30 grams of deer antler grass.

(3) Blood stasis: testicular trauma, swelling and pain, or redness, swelling and burning sensation, blue tongue with ecchymosis, and astringent pulse.

Treatment method: Promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis and relieve pain.

Prescription: 10 grams each of bupleurum, angelica, peach kernel, and pangolin, 8 grams each of safflower and rhubarb, 15 grams of trichosanthes, 20 grams each of dandelion and honeysuckle.
