Symptoms of prostate tumors can be observed from two aspects:

Tumors can occur anywhere in the human body. Generally speaking, when people find a tumor somewhere in the body, they should immediately seek treatment. Prostate tumor is also a common symptom. So, what are the symptoms of prostate tumor?

Local manifestation

When the tumor grows to the point of blocking the urinary tract, symptoms of bladder neck obstruction similar to benign prostatic hyperplasia may occur. Manifestations include gradually worsening slow urine flow, frequent urination, urgency, interrupted urine flow, incomplete urination, and difficulty urinating. Dysuria and hematuria caused by cancer are often in the late stage. When the lesion extensively invades the membranous part of the urethra, urinary incontinence may occur. When the capsule and the surrounding perineural lymph nodes are invaded, compression of the nerves may cause local pain, and compression of the sciatic nerve may cause radiating pain in the lower limbs. When the rectum is compressed, defecation may be difficult. When the tumor metastasizes along the lymph nodes and causes compression and obstruction of the ureter, there may be low back pain and hydronephrosis. Oliguria and renal failure may occur in bilateral cases. Prostatic duct cancer and transitional cell carcinoma often present with painless hematuria accompanied by frequent urination and dysuria. When the tumor invades the seminal vesicle, hematospermia may occur.

Distant metastatic symptoms

Bone metastasis is a common symptom of prostate cancer. Some patients seek medical treatment for symptoms of metastatic lesions without local primary symptoms of the prostate. Any bone can be invaded. The pelvis and lumbar vertebrae are the most common sites of early metastasis, followed by the thoracic vertebrae, ribs and femur. Symptoms of bone metastasis are persistent bone pain, which is more obvious when lying still. It can cause pathological fractures or even paralysis. Other metastatic symptoms may include subcutaneous metastatic nodules, liver enlargement, lymph node enlargement, lower limb swelling when lymphatic return to the lower limbs is blocked, neurological dysfunction when the brain metastases, and cough, hemoptysis, chest pain, etc. when the lungs metastasize. Late-stage patients may experience loss of appetite, weight loss, fatigue and anemia.
