A lump in the groin may be scabies. How to treat scabies?

There are many diseases that are prone to occur in the groin area. If people find lumps in the groin area, they should be careful that it may be related to scabies. So, how should scabies be treated?

A bump in the groin may be scabies:

It may be scabies, and it is scabies nodules after severe scabies. Reddish nodules the size of soybeans appear on the scrotum, penis, labia, groin, etc. These are scabies nodules. Such nodules often last for a long time and are often accompanied by severe itching.

Treatment of scabies:

1. General treatment

The main treatment is to use external scabies-killing preparations. All cases of group outbreaks or family members should be treated at the same time. The treatment procedure is as follows: before applying the medicine, it is best to take a bath with hot water and soap. When applying the medicine, the medicine should be applied to the whole body from the neck down. The area where the rash is concentrated should be repeatedly applied and rubbed with pressure. Take a bath with hot water and soap again at the end of the treatment. Change clothes and bedding in time, and boil the changed clothes and bedding with water for disinfection or scald and expose them to the sun.

2. Drug treatment

(1) Commonly used anti-scabies topical drugs ① 10% sulfur (5% sulfur for children), 3% salicylic acid ointment. ② 1% γ-666 emulsion or ointment, pay attention to neurotoxicity. ③ 10%-25% benzyl benzoate lotion or cream. ④ Povidone cream for external use. ⑤ 40% sodium thiosulfate solution and 4% dilute hydrochloric acid solution. Apply the former twice, and then apply the latter twice after it dries. Apply once in the morning and evening every day for 3-4 days. ⑥ Apply 10% crotamiton emulsion or ointment once in the morning and evening every day for 3 days.

After the above topical medications are used for treatment, the patient should be observed for 2 weeks. If no new skin lesions appear, the patient is considered cured. This is because scabies eggs can only develop into adults after 7-10 days. If there is no new rash after recovery but the patient still has itching, compound calamine lotion can be applied externally.

(2) Treatment of scabies nodules ① Apply tar gel every night for 2 to 3 weeks. ② Inject glucocorticoid (triamcinolone acetonide) into the lesion. ③ Apply triamcinolone acetonide-neomycin patch topically. ④ Cryotherapy.

(3) For patients with severe itching caused by oral medication, antihistamines may be used as appropriate, and antibiotics may be added for secondary infection.
