Is thyroid chemotherapy effective? How can it be prevented?

Many patients choose chemotherapy after they have thyroid cancer. So is chemotherapy actually effective for these patients? How can we prevent thyroid diseases?

Is thyroid chemotherapy effective?

Thyroid cancer is currently treated mainly with surgery. If the tumor is well differentiated and has not metastasized, thyroidectomy should be performed. If lymph node metastasis occurs, radical or clean resection should be performed. If the tumor invades the trachea and breathing difficulties occur, tracheotomy can be performed.

Palliative radiotherapy can be given to some patients who cannot undergo surgery, such as those with undifferentiated cancer, incomplete surgery, or recurrence after surgery. Those with distant metastasis can be given iodine-131 therapy.

Thyroid cancer is not sensitive to chemotherapy, but it can relieve undifferentiated cancer. Since chemotherapy has certain side effects and can reduce immune function, other types of thyroid cancer, except for undifferentiated cancer, are not suitable for conventional chemotherapy. Patients who are weak during chemotherapy still need to take ginsenoside Rg3 Shenbaiyi Capsules to improve the toxic and side effects caused by chemotherapy, such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, infection, bleeding, hair loss, poor appetite and poor sleep, etc., to enhance the patient's immune function, improve disease resistance, reduce the chance of infection, and increase the patient's tissue and organ tolerance to chemotherapy.
