The causes of small testicles and their impact on men

For men, small testicles are related to testicular hypoplasia. In real life, there are many reasons why men have small testicles. The following article will introduce them to you.

Causes of small testicles:

1. Microtesticles may occur when the testicles are underdeveloped or the testicles atrophy due to disease in infants and young children.

2. Microtestes due to testicular dysplasia caused by chromosomal abnormalities and testicular atrophy caused by testicular lesions.

3. Small testicles caused by decreased secretion of gonadotropin by the pituitary gland.

4. Having suffered from mumps during adolescence and concurrent orchitis can damage the testicles.

5. Testicular damage caused by trauma, accidents or surgery can also cause minor testicular diseases.

Effects of small testicles:

The testicles of a normal person are not equal, but the difference is not too big. If the testicles on both sides are within the normal size range, it will not affect fertility. But if one side is a small testicle and the other side is normal, although the fertility is lower than that of a normal person, it is still possible to have children. But at the same time, it must be pointed out that when the testicles are damaged, only the spermatogenic cells inside are destroyed, while the interstitial cells that produce the male hormone testosterone are not destroyed and can still produce testosterone to maintain the male's secondary sexual characteristics and sexual function. Therefore, if the testicles become smaller, it will only affect fertility, not sexual function. The patients with Klinefelter syndrome mentioned above can still have sexual desire and sexual function, and can also have normal ejaculation because their testicles can still secrete a certain amount of male hormones. However, due to testicular spermatogenesis disorders and atrophy of the vas deferens, there are no sperm or very few sperm in the semen, and 97% of patients are infertile.
