Why is gonorrhea becoming more and more common? What are the early symptoms?

Gonorrhea, also known as gonorrhea, is a common sexually transmitted disease that is extremely harmful and is mainly caused by unclean sexual life. Therefore, understanding the symptoms of gonococcal urethritis can help patients minimize the harm.

The main symptoms of gonococcal urethritis are:

(1) Dysuria is often an early symptom of the disease. There is a burning, stinging or burning pain in the front of the urethra. The pain is significantly aggravated during urination and may even radiate to the lower abdomen or spine. When the pain occurs at night, the patient may experience "painful erections".

(2) The urethral opening is red, swollen and purulent. After 12 to 24 hours, the pain is slightly relieved, and thin mucous secretions begin to be discharged. After another 12 to 24 hours, a large amount of purulent secretions are discharged. In 24 hours, 20 to 50 ml of purulent fluid can be discharged. What are the symptoms of gonococcal urethritis? After 2 to 3 days, the purulent fluid decreases in volume and becomes thicker. The color changes from white to yellowish white or yellowish brown. After another 3 to 4 days, the purulent fluid becomes less and thicker. In the morning, pus accumulates at the urethral opening to form a pus membrane, which is called "mud mouth". The pain is relieved, the urethral opening is red and swollen, and is everted. The inner leaf of the foreskin is also red and swollen, and it can develop into balanitis and incarcerated foreskin.

(3) What are the symptoms of gonococcal urethritis? Frequent urination and urgency, similar to general urinary tract infection. This is because the inflammation causes the urethral sphincter to contract. Frequent urination and urgency are more severe at night. In addition, because the inflammation affects the small blood vessels in the mucosa there, "terminal hematuria" often occurs. Sometimes there may be blood in the semen.

(4) Perineal swelling and pain. Clinically, the presence of perineal swelling and pain indicates that the lesion has invaded the posterior urethra, prostate, and seminal vesicle.

(5) Systemic symptoms. Some patients may also experience systemic symptoms, such as fever (body temperature around 38°C), general fatigue, malaise, loss of appetite, and even nausea and vomiting.

The symptoms of gonococcal urethritis are the most severe in the first week. If not treated or the treatment is not timely or effective, the symptoms will gradually ease after about 2 to 3 weeks, the urethral secretions will decrease, the tissue swelling will also subside, and the symptoms will completely disappear after one month. However, the gonococci have already invaded the deep glands and even lurk in the scar tissue and grow slowly, developing into chronic gonorrhea, and urethral stenosis may occur in the later stage.
