Normal sperm is white and translucent, but if you abstain from sex for a long time, the color of semen will gradually turn yellow due to changes in physical and chemical properties. If semen is yellow-green or even contains blood, it indicates inflammation of the reproductive tract.

1. Under normal circumstances: In fact, normal male semen is translucent and milky white like egg white. If the abstinence period is long, the semen will become yellower due to changes in physical and chemical properties. This is normal.

2. Abnormal conditions: Abnormal semen includes: milky white or yellow-green semen, or even blood in the semen, which indicates inflammation in the reproductive tract, which is likely to be a purulent infection of the prostate and seminal vesicles. If the semen is yellow, it may be bacterial prostatitis. The semen produced by longer intervals of sexual intercourse is also yellower. Therefore, if the semen is yellow, you should go to a men's hospital for sperm testing to find out the cause and treat the symptoms.

Check:

1. Semen pH: 7.2-8.6, average 7.8.

2. Sperm survival rate: dead sperm does not exceed 50%.

3. Semen liquefaction: Complete liquefaction in 30 minutes. If it does not liquefy for more than 1 hour, it is called poor semen liquefaction syndrome.

4. Sperm count in semen: 60 million to 200 million per milliliter. Less than 20 million per milliliter is called oligospermia.

Diagnosis and treatment:

Blood in semen: Blood in semen refers to the ejaculated semen that is pink, red, brownish red, or contains blood streaks or blood clots. When a smear under a microscope shows a large number of red blood cells, it is called hematospermia. Medically, it can be divided into macroscopic hematospermia and microscopic hematospermia. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is called "red turbidity".

Decreased sperm quality: Decreased sperm quality refers to a decrease in the number, survival rate, motility, and density of sperm at the same volume level.

All semen abnormalities must be diagnosed through laboratory tests. Because there are many reasons for yellow semen, semen residue abnormalities are often the main cause of male infertility and are more difficult to treat than general male sexual dysfunction.

5. Sperm motility: The forward motility of sperm should be no less than 60% in the first hour and no less than 50% in the second hour.

6. Semen volume: 2~6 ml each time. More than 8 ml is called hyperseminal volume, and less than 1.5 ml is called hyposeminal volume.

7. Sperm morphology: Normal sperm morphology should be no less than 70%. If the test results of the semen sent for examination are significantly different from the above values, infertility should be suspected.
