After male sterilization surgery, caregivers need to know these issues

Male sterilization surgery is a good choice for permanent contraception between couples. Nowadays, many good men choose to undergo sterilization surgery to prevent their wives from getting pregnant unexpectedly. This surgery may seem simple, but the precautions after the surgery cannot be ignored.

Things to note after surgery:

(1) Be careful not to knock off the gauze at the incision and do not touch the wound with your hands. Do not take a shower before the incision heals to prevent infection. For some people who are more sensitive, you can use a T-strap or a towel to cover the scrotum for about a week to prevent pain.

(2) After the operation, stay in the hospital for 1-2 hours for observation. If there is no abnormality, you can go home. It is best to take a car or walk slowly, not ride a bicycle. After returning home, you should also pay attention to rest more and avoid excessive activities to prevent falls and hematomas. Depending on the nature of the work, you can rest for 7-14 days after the operation.

(3) It should be noted that after the operation, there will still be a lot of live sperm remaining in the distal end of the vas deferens and the umbilicus of the vas deferens. Therefore, contraception should still be adhered to within about 2 months after the operation, otherwise the woman may become pregnant. Generally speaking, 10 more ejaculations will be enough to drain out the remaining sperm. To be more secure, some doctors advocate that contraception is no longer necessary after 20 ejaculations. Of course, the best way is to stop using other contraceptive measures only after the semen test confirms that there is indeed no sperm.

(4) Pay attention to bleeding. If you find bleeding on the gauze strip within 24 hours after the operation, you should ask a doctor to check it immediately and deal with it in time. However, this situation rarely occurs.

(5) Avoid sexual intercourse within two weeks after surgery.

(6) The scrotal skin has a strong healing ability and the skin sutures can be removed 4-5 days after the operation.
