Is edema normal after suture removal?

Is edema normal after suture removal?

For men, excessive foreskin is a big problem, because it is not only easy to cause diseases such as vulvitis and glans inflammation, but also easy to affect men's sexual function. We know that men pay the most attention to their sexual ability, so circumcision has become the choice of many men. After the operation, the stitches need to be removed, and edema may occur after the stitches are removed. At this time, patients will feel worried. They ask: Is it normal to have edema after the stitches are removed?

Edema after circumcision is a common symptom. Mild edema of the glans penis within 3-4 days after the operation is normal, but there are individual differences. The reason for the edema is that after circumcision, the blood supply (blood circulation) of the frenulum is relatively abundant. After the operation, the blood vessels and lymphatic vessels of the skin are cut off, and new return pathways are established, resulting in poor return, which takes some time. Therefore, the local edema after the operation can generally recover in 2-3 weeks, and some can last for more than 3 months. But there is no need to panic. The swelling will naturally disappear after the new blood circulation is formed.

There may be slight pain at the wound after circumcision surgery. You can take painkillers prescribed by the doctor. During this period, try not to stimulate the penis to avoid rupture of the wound. When the penis is erect, you can protect the wound with your hand to let the penis heal naturally. If the wound is swollen, painful and bleeding, you can use cold compresses to stop the bleeding. If the bleeding continues, go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

From this we can see that edema after suture removal is a normal phenomenon. Male friends do not need to worry about it. The most important thing is to follow the doctor's instructions and do the relevant postoperative care to promote recovery and avoid affecting the surgical effect due to improper handling. At the same time, pay attention to the relevant care measures after circumcision surgery.
