How to treat orchitis?

How to treat orchitis?

Some men often have symptoms of testicular inflammation due to inattention, too frequent sex, or lack of attention to testicular hygiene. Not only will the testicles become red, swollen, and painful, but in severe cases, it may also affect sex life, sperm, and infertility. Therefore, men who have orchitis must pay attention to timely treatment. So, what is the best treatment?

Acute orchitis:

(1) General treatment: In the early stage, the patient should lie down with the affected side elevated and apply local hot or cold compresses. For patients with red and swollen scrotal skin, apply a wet compress of 50% magnesium sulfate solution.

Vaccination of children with live attenuated mumps vaccine and administration of estrogen, glucocorticoids, or immunoglobulin to adults may also help with mumps orchitis.

(2) Antibacterial drugs for the treatment of orchitis

Systemic use of antibacterial drugs is particularly important for bacterial orchitis. Commonly used drugs include cephalosporins, such as Cialis, Bacillus, and fluoroquinolones. Broad-spectrum penicillins can also be used. Antibiotics should be used for at least 1 to 2 weeks. Antibiotics are ineffective for mumps orchitis, but bacterial infection can be prevented.

(3) Relieve testicular pain

10 mL of 10% procaine can be used to close the spermatic cord on the affected side, which can relieve pain, reduce swelling, promote testicular blood circulation, and protect spermatogenesis.

(4) Surgery for orchitis

If the testicle has formed an abscess, incision and drainage are required.

Chronic orchitis:

For non-specific orchitis, symptomatic treatment is mainly needed, such as local physical therapy, hot compress, spermatic cord closure, etc., which can promote the absorption of chronic inflammation. Oral antibiotics can also be used for treatment. Abscess formation can be treated by incision and drainage to remove the lesion. If the testicle is atrophic or hardened, orchiectomy can be performed and sent for pathological examination.

Orchitis is divided into acute orchitis and chronic orchitis. If it is acute orchitis, timely treatment will allow the disease to heal quickly, but if the treatment is not timely or the treatment method is inappropriate, it may lead to the occurrence of chronic orchitis, then the treatment will be more difficult, and may even lead to testicular atrophy, etc. Therefore, after the disease, do not be afraid of medical treatment, must be timely treatment.
