What is the best age for circumcision?

Men may have reproductive problems during their growth and development. In most cases, phimosis is a common problem. Excess skin tissue will affect men's health after puberty and should be treated as early as possible. Because such problems are generally avoided by people, not many parents will take the initiative to care about whether their children have these problems. So what is the best age for circumcision surgery?

Children under 10 years old are generally not recommended to undergo surgery because their penis has not yet developed normally. Only after puberty, if the foreskin is still too long or phimosis, surgery is needed. Before puberty, surgery is only considered when the phimosis affects urination and has already adhered. Therefore, it is best for children to undergo circumcision between the ages of 10 and 16. This period is also the time for growth, and circumcision does not delay the child's continued growth.

Do not take circumcision lightly for children with prepuce or phimosis. Generally speaking, babies are born with prepuce or phimosis, which is physiological and can disappear naturally with the growth of the penis. More importantly, the foreskin is not a "mere" but a normal physiological structure of men. It plays an irreplaceable role in protecting the glans penis from trauma and insect bites, and keeping the glans penis smooth, tender and sensitive. Therefore, most pediatricians recommend that children under 10 years old do not need to rush to undergo surgery if they have no symptoms and can easily turn over the foreskin and clean it. Of course, if the phimosis is severe, only the foreskin opening can be seen, but not the urethral opening, and the foreskin cannot be turned up at all, so that the glans penis is always retracted inside, causing urination difficulties, or the glans penis is often painful and itchy, then you will need to use a scalpel.

The timely cure and solution of this problem is inseparable from the parents' care for their children. If this or similar problems are found in children's early childhood, parents should consult a doctor in time to determine the specific solutions and treatment methods for the relevant problems. At the same time, parents should pay attention to communicating such problems with their children so that they can understand and avoid causing psychological trauma to their children.
