How to judge sperm motility?

Semen quality is the most basic standard for measuring male fertility. The greater the sperm motility, the more mature sperm enter the fallopian tube, and the easier it is to get pregnant. If the sperm is abnormal, it will lead to infertility. Therefore, if you plan to have a baby, sperm motility test is essential. So how is sperm motility judged? Let's take a look at the items of routine examination.

Sperm motility refers to the percentage of sperm in the semen that move forward. Since only sperm with forward movement can have normal survival and fertilization ability, motility is closely related to the conception rate of female livestock, so it is one of the main indicators of routine inspection for evaluating the quality of semen.

What are the routine tests for sperm motility?

1. Semen volume: The normal ejaculation volume is about 2-6 ml each time. 1-2 ml is suspiciously abnormal. Less than 1 ml or more than 7 ml are considered abnormal.

2. Motility: Sperm motility is generally divided into four levels. Level 0 refers to sperm without activity; Level 1 refers to sperm moving in place; Level 2 refers to sperm swimming slowly in a curve; Level 3 refers to sperm swimming in a straight line; Level 4 refers to sperm swimming quickly in a straight line.

3. Liquefaction: After normal semen is ejaculated, it becomes a gelatinous state under the action of the seminal vesicle coagulase, and after 5-30 minutes it becomes a less viscous liquid.

4. Sperm density: generally expressed as the number of sperm per milliliter of semen. The normal sperm density is 20 million-1.

5. Color: The color of normal semen is grayish white or light yellow.

6. Survival rate: Usually within one hour after ejaculation, the sperm with motility should be no less than 70% (usually 60-80%). If it is less than 60%, it is asthenozoospermia; if all the sperm in the semen are dead, it is necrospermia.

If there is any problem in any of the above examination items, it will have an impact. Some unmarried and childless men like to use sexual health products frequently, which will damage the quality of sperm. In order to avoid the decline of sperm quality, male friends must master certain sexual knowledge, understand physiological characteristics and health care knowledge, which will also help themselves.
