Testicular pain is usually caused by trauma, inflammation, tumors, etc. Testicular pain can be large or small. Large testicular pain may affect the normal functioning of the reproductive organs and lead to male infertility. Small testicular pain can be treated with a small operation and will heal in two days. Generally, testicular pain usually indicates the occurrence of the following diseases:

1. Orchitis. Orchitis is the most common cause of testicular pain in men. Orchitis is caused by inflammation of the testicles. In most cases, it is caused by the deterioration of testicular disease. The testicles feel painful due to the stimulation of inflammation. Moreover, the presence of orchitis will seriously damage the male testicular function and reduce the ability of the testicles to produce sperm. 2. Epididymitis. Testicular pain is caused by epididymitis. The male epididymis is adjacent to the testicles. Inflammation caused by infection of the epididymis will also spread to the testicles. Like orchitis, it will irritate the testicles and cause testicular pain in men. Epididymitis can also damage the testicles and cause male infertility.

3. Scrotitis. Scrotal inflammation is also a cause of testicular pain in men. The scrotum is responsible for the growth and development of sperm, and also for the temporary storage of sperm. Scrotal inflammation not only stimulates male testicles, but also damages sperm in the seminal vesicle, causing sperm death, thereby reducing male fertility and leading to male infertility.

4. Other inflammatory diseases. The causes of male testicular pain include other inflammatory diseases, such as prostatitis, male endocrine disorders, urinary tract infections, etc. The presence of these diseases can cause male testicular pain.

Usually, Chinese medicine can be used for treatment:

(1) Damp-heat descending: fever with chills, swollen and painful testicles, hard and dark urine, dry stool, red tongue with yellow greasy coating, and stringy, slippery and rapid pulse.

Treatment method: Clear away dampness and heat, detoxify and relieve swelling.

Prescription: 10g each of Scutellaria baicalensis, Fructus Akebiae, Fructus Akebiae, Fructus Plantaginis (wrapped and decocted), Rhizoma Cibotii, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae, 6g of Radix Bupleuri, 12g of Radix Licorice, 15g of Gentiana scabra, 20g each of Flos Lonicerae, Rhizoma Chuanxiong.

(2) Qi stagnation and blood stasis: The testicles gradually swell and become hard to the touch. There is mild pain. The tongue has dark edges with ecchymosis, a thin white coating, and a stringy and slippery pulse.

Treatment method: Promote Qi and blood circulation, and disperse stagnation.

Prescription: 10 grams each of tangerine seed, costus root, bitter orange, Magnolia officinalis, Toosendan, peach kernel, and Corydalis yanhusuo, 15 grams each of kelp and seaweed, 6 grams of Akebia, 15 grams each of Rehmannia glutinosa, Radix Rehmanniae, Radix Yuanshen, chrysanthemum, and dandelion, and 30 grams of deer antler grass.

(3) Blood stasis: testicular trauma, swelling and pain, or redness, swelling and burning sensation, blue tongue with ecchymosis, and astringent pulse.

Treatment method: Promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis and relieve pain.

Prescription: 10 grams each of bupleurum, angelica, peach kernel, and pangolin, 8 grams each of safflower and rhubarb, 15 grams of trichosanthes, 20 grams each of dandelion and honeysuckle.
