What should boys do if they have hidden pain in the upper and lower chest? The pain should be differentiated according to the characteristics, frequency, duration and symptoms. The tissues and organs that may be involved in the upper and lower chest include the heart, lungs, breasts, rib cartilage, etc.

1. Heart: The most common is coronary heart disease. Symptoms of chest pain are a characteristic of coronary heart disease. The typical location of pain is behind the sternum. But the pain can also radiate to the upper and lower chest. The pain is typically squeezing, often accompanied by significant chest tightness and shortness of breath. Some patients have a sense of impending death, which often drives the patient to stop activities immediately. Symptoms often have causes, such as climbing stairs, walking quickly, fatigue, overeating, cold, emotional excitement, etc., and quiet rest can alleviate the symptoms. Others such as myocarditis and pericarditis can also cause pain in the left chest.

2. Lungs: Lung infections, spontaneous pneumothorax, pleurisy, lung cancer, etc. are more common. Spontaneous pneumothorax often causes tearing pain at the onset. Lung cancer causes continuous and severe pain. Pain caused by lung problems is often aggravated by inhalation or coughing.

3. Breast: Male breast cancer may cause chest pain. In the early stages of breast cancer, painless lumps may be felt, and in the middle and late stages, some orange peel-like skin changes may be seen.

4. Others: Costochondritis can cause chest pain, with some tenderness but no swelling; herpes zoster pain is distributed along one side of the intercostal nerve with severe pain, and the pain does not exceed the center line of the epidermis. If no organic disease is found after functional examination, cardiac neurosis should be considered.

When a man has hidden pain in the upper and lower chest, if the symptoms and characteristics of the chest pain are more likely to be heart disease or lung disease, he should go to the outpatient clinic immediately to avoid serious life-threatening conditions. If the chest pain is suspected to be breast or chondritis, he can go to the general surgery department for treatment.
