Maybe you put a lot of effort into dressing up, but you just look good. Or maybe it's still a pain in the ass. The fact is, whether you like it or not, the way you look and the way you present yourself is an important aspect of your life, it can show your status and personality. We know that in today's day and age, improving your personal dressing style is a challenge. You read countless fashion articles and even map out the most important details of each outfit in order to remember what to wear with each outfit. You see people posting photos of various fashion shows on Instagram, discussing various fashion trends that you are not aware of, and constantly mentioning many designers you don't recognize. It seems to be overwhelming, it does seem difficult and expensive. So where should a novice start learning how to dress? Luckily, we’re here to teach you how to look your best by showing you how to avoid some common fashion mistakes. 1) When you are not a student but carry a backpack Do you see people dressed like this every day? Some men rush to work every day, carrying backpacks that look like turtle shells on their backs to balance their weight. Or some men carry oversized laptops slung ugly around their hips. Believe me, you don't want to dress like those men, unless you want to be mistaken for a college student. A reasonably sized crossbody bag looks cool, or a chic briefcase would also be perfect. 2) Wear black dress shoes with khaki pants Black dress shoes are very formal and should generally be worn with black pants and a suit. Brown dress shoes look less formal. It is not a hard and fast rule not to wear black shoes with non-black pants, but black shoes look better with lighter colored pants. Dark brown oxfords and leather shoes can generally be paired with almost any pants.
3) Wearing flip-flops and jeans at work This is a dressing mistake that many men make. But, what's even worse is when men throw a pair of flip-flops in their office. It ruins an otherwise nice outfit. Let's get this straight. There's nothing wrong with wearing flip-flops on the beach, by the pool, or when you're walking in the neighborhood garden. There's nothing wrong with wearing flip-flops if you wear them with shorts. If you wear jeans, chinos or shorts, you should pair them with casual shoes, sandals or hiking sneakers. 4) Wear running shoes when you are not running Running shoes are amazing. They are super comfortable. However, they are only meant for running. You should not wear running shoes except for working out at the gym or going for a morning jog. If you are looking for a casual, light-colored shoe, you can try white leather sneakers. Even suede leather shoes can make you look stylish. 5) Wear pure white or black socks Men don't wear white socks. In fact, white socks don't match most of your clothes. It's true that socks aren't a very noticeable part compared to most other parts of your outfit. However, an unflattering combination, or worse, the wrong pair of socks, will draw attention to yourself. Black socks should only be worn with black pants and black shoes. Wearing khaki pants or light-colored shoes with black socks is never a good idea. On the contrary, wearing socks with prints and different colors is very stylish. |
