How to treat glansitis

Balanitis is an inflammation of the inner layer of the foreskin and the glans penis. The inflammation is caused by the foreskin being too long and being exposed to trauma, irritation and infection. Balanitis and the inner layer of the foreskin are both present at the same time, so the two are collectively referred to as balanitis. The main clinical symptoms are local swelling, erosion and ulceration. Balanitis can directly infect the urinary and reproductive system and cause cystitis, pyelonephritis, etc.

?This disease is prone to occur in autumn and winter and mostly occurs in young men, especially those with long foreskin and prepuce. The clinical symptoms are generally divided into subacute atrophic glansitis, annular rupture glansitis, trichomonal glansitis, plasma cell glansitis, candidal glansitis, and dry obstructive glansitis. The identification is mainly based on clinical symptoms and etiology and pathological examination.

Causes of glansitis

Balanitis is related to many factors, which can be divided into infectious factors and non-infectious factors. Under normal circumstances, a large number of bacteria, yeasts and spirochetes can parasitize inside and outside the genitals. When the local or whole body resistance is weakened, these microorganisms can become pathogens. Balanitis is mainly caused by bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus aureus, followed by Trichomonas, Trichomonas, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Gonorrhea, etc. can also cause balanitis.

Non-infectious factors include irritation from urine, alkaline substances (such as cleaning liquids) and foreign substances (such as condoms); friction and trauma; long foreskin and insufficient cleaning resulting in urine scale deposition, etc., which can cause damage to the glans foreskin mucosa and aggravate the infection of various bacteria.

Penis inflammation treatment

1. General solution

(1) Keep the area clean to avoid various irritations, and clean the glans penis and foreskin every day.

(2) Avoid unclean sexual life. Do not have sexual intercourse during the treatment period. If it is trichomoniasis or trichomoniasis glansitis, the couple should be treated separately.

(3) In case of acute symptoms, avoid using corticosteroids to prevent aggravation of infection. If the penile edema is severe, avoid forcibly retracting the foreskin.

(4) If there are ulcers or erosions on the inner foreskin and glans penis, the dressing should be changed immediately, twice a day.

(5) Eat less spicy food and avoid alcohol and smoking.

2. Partial healing

For those with erosive exudation or purulent secretions, apply 1% ethacridine aqueous solution or 1:8000 potassium permanganate aqueous solution on the face. For those with dryness and scaling, apply hormone ointment. For those with trichomonas infection, use sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution to clean the acne and then apply imidazole cream. For those with trichomonas infection, use 0.5% to 1% lactic acid bacteria aqueous solution or 0.5% acetic acid solution to clean, and then apply anti-inflammatory ointment. Intermittent administration of hormone ointment without fluoride in medium-efficiency filters has a good effect on cytoplasmic glansitis.

3. Systemic medication

Systemic antibiotics should be used according to the pathogen and drug sensitivity test. For the treatment of subacute atrophic balanitis and annular erosive balanitis, antibiotics sensitive to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacilli can be used first. Metronidazole is the first choice for the treatment of candidal balanitis. Fluconazole tablets or itraconazole are commonly used to treat balanitis caused by Candida albicans.

4. Surgery

Patients with recurrent balanitis due to long or excessive foreskin should undergo circumcision after the inflammation subsides.
