How to treat epididymal cysts

How to treat epididymal cysts

The epididymis is located at the upper end of the penis and can be divided into three parts: the head, body, and tail. If a cyst appears in the epididymis head, the patient needs to be examined and diagnosed in time. For cysts in the epididymis head, the more common treatments are surgical treatment and traditional Chinese medicine treatment. The current treatment methods are relatively mature and have good efficacy. Patients can actively cooperate with doctors.

1. How to treat epididymal cyst?

1.1 Surgical method

Because the operation is minor, the patient does not experience much pain. A small scrotal incision is sufficient to mobilize, separate, and remove the cyst, and the results are often very good. During the operation, the doctor will carefully separate the cyst from the testicle and epididymis, and then remove it intact. During the operation, the doctor will try to be careful not to compress and disrupt the blood supply to the testicle or disrupt the connection between the epididymis and the vas deferens. If the cyst is open or has been aspirated before the operation, the fluid will appear thin, white or turbid, and inactive sperm may be visible under a microscope. Complications of surgical removal of an epididymal cyst are mild and rare and include scrotal hematoma, infertility (if the epididymis is removed), and testicular atrophy if the blood supply to the testicles is affected.

1.2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

This disease is mostly caused by liver, spleen and kidney dysfunction, phlegm and dampness blocking the body, and stagnation. The treatment is mainly based on resolving phlegm and dispersing stagnation. According to the different causes and pathogenesis, the treatment is to soothe the liver and regulate qi, resolve phlegm and remove dampness, or nourish yin and reduce fire, resolve phlegm and disperse stagnation.

Treatment for Qi stagnation and phlegm stagnation syndrome: Soothe the liver and regulate Qi, transform dampness and eliminate phlegm.

Treatment for Yin deficiency and phlegm obstruction syndrome: nourish Yin and reduce fire, resolve phlegm and disperse stagnation.

2. What is epididymal cyst?

Epididymal cysts are also called spermatoceles, and are most common in men aged 20 to 40. The cause of the disease may be the blockage of the vas deferens, which leads to the accumulation of semen. Epididymal cysts usually occur in the head of the epididymis, but rarely in the body and tail. They originate from the epithelial cells of the efferent ducts of the rete testis, with a diameter of several millimeters to several centimeters. They can be a single cystic cavity or divided into multiple cavities, but single cysts are more common.

3. Symptoms of epididymal cyst

Generally there are no symptoms, but sometimes there is discomfort or a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, and sometimes there is scrotal swelling.

A round swelling is felt on the testicle or epididymis, with a soft texture, a sense of fluctuation, clear boundaries, and does not shrink when squeezed.

The light transmission test is positive. The cyst puncture fluid is milky white and opaque. Microscopic examination shows inactive sperm, fat bodies, etc. After being placed at room temperature for a short time, the previously inactive sperm in the fluid will become active.

Ultrasound can reveal fluid dark areas in the testicles or epididymis.

The dangers of epididymal cyst

Small epididymal cysts do not cause any major harm. Patients do not need to worry, just relax and work and live normally. Do not have psychological burdens. For patients with complications caused by epididymal cysts, they should go to the hospital for treatment, otherwise it will seriously affect your normal work and life.

Epididymal cysts may lead to decreased male sexual function or even complete loss of sexual function. They may lead to dead sperm, azoospermia, loss of fertility, and transmission of inflammatory bacteria to the spouse, causing gynecological diseases. Testicular diseases that are not cured for a long time will cause sperm and kidney deficiency, loss of vitality, severe limb coldness, back pain, and premature aging.

How to self-massage epididymal septicemia

Patients with epididymal abscess should squat or lie in lateral flexion position, clean the anus and lower rectum after defecation, wear a condom on their middle or index finger, and move the finger along the anus to the anus wall of the rectum to touch the prostate, and then touch and press the prostate gland regularly. At the same time, lift the anus to make the prostate fluid discharge from the urethra, and urinate immediately.

Massage for 3 to 5 minutes each time, preferably with prostate fluid discharged from the urethra each time. You can use soap to lubricate the finger cots before massage to reduce discomfort.

Each massage treatment should be done 1 to 3 days apart. If you find obvious prostate tenderness and increased cystic sensation during self-massage, you should go to a specialist clinic in time to avoid acute attacks of chronic prostatitis. Do not massage during acute attacks.

It should be emphasized that self-massage therapy is only a complementary treatment method and cannot completely replace other therapies. Other massage therapies include:

Massage your lower abdomen

Place your hands together, with your right hand on top and your left palm on the center of your lower abdomen, and massage in a clockwise direction 100 times.

Oblique groin rub

Put the five fingers of both hands together, and place the little fingers of both hands on the iliac spine. Rub diagonally forward and downward along the groin for 100 times until you feel warmth in your lower abdomen.
