Testicular asymmetry

Testicular asymmetry

In fact, the structure of male testicles is also very complex, and male testicles are mainly composed of left and right testicles. Most of the time, because the testicles are in a relatively hidden place, male friends cannot directly observe their testicles. However, it is also very necessary to observe the testicles regularly, so as to effectively check any diseases on the testicles. Is it normal for a man to have asymmetrical testicles?

What causes testicular asymmetry?

1. Caused by external injury

Traumatic injuries, such as accidental attack on the testicles, can cause internal bleeding and hematoma of the testicles, which results in insufficient blood supply and gradual atrophy, making the testicles significantly smaller than the opposite side.

2. Mumps virus causes

The mumps virus destroys the epithelial cells of the seminiferous tubules in the testicles, which is also an important factor in the different sizes of male testicles, eventually leading to testicular atrophy.

3. Acute epididymitis

Acute epididymitis is mostly caused by the urinary system, prostatitis and seminal vesiculitis extending along the vas deferens to the epididymis, and bloodstream infection is less common. Transurethral instrumentation, frequent catheterization, and indwelling urinary catheter after prostatectomy can all lead to epididymitis.

4. Caused by congenital diseases

Congenital diseases cause one side of the testicle to be underdeveloped, which is usually manifested as a very small testicle on one side, such as the infantile type, while the compensatory hyperplasia on the other side makes it slightly larger than that of ordinary people. As a result, one testicle is larger than the other. These men have had one testicle larger than the other since childhood, and the difference is quite significant.

5. Caused by orchitis

Orchitis is generally caused by bacteria and viruses. The testicles themselves rarely have bacterial infections because they have a rich supply of blood and lymph fluid, making them very resistant to bacterial infections. Most bacterial orchitis is caused by inflammation of the surrounding epididymis, so it is also called epididymo-orchitis.

Pay attention to expert reminders

Testicular abnormalities can cause testicular infertility. If patients can detect the disease in time, it is very necessary for the treatment of infertility. Once they find that their testicular abnormalities have related symptoms, they must receive treatment in a regular hospital to avoid harm to the body due to misdiagnosis.
