Does being fat affect pregnancy?

When a man reaches middle age, he tends to gain weight because at this age, calories are consumed very slowly and fat is easily accumulated. Many men worry that obesity will affect their fertility. So, will obesity affect pregnancy? In fact, obesity does have a certain impact on male fertility. A man's weight will affect his sperm genes and may be passed on to his children.

1. Does obesity affect fertility in men?

The results suggest that the environment can cause changes in sperm cells that may represent a mechanism by which obesity can be passed on to the next generation. Some prospective parents are seriously considering changing their behavior before pregnancy. We already know that a child's weight appears to be strongly related to their parents. This new finding suggests that the father's health is also important.

After comparing sperm from 13 lean men and 10 moderately obese men, the team found significant differences in the epigenomes of the subjects' sperm (the epigenetic genome is a modification mark on DNA that can affect gene activity). "We found that the epigenetic marks of about 9,000 genes in the sperm of obese men were changed." The levels of certain short-chain RNAs in the sperm of obese men were higher, and one of these RNA fragments targets the CART gene, a gene that controls appetite.

2. Reasons why men are overweight

For those who sit in the office all year round, obesity is more likely to occur. Many men like to drink beer very much, and even drink beer as water. They need to drink some with every meal. A bottle of beer contains about 228 calories. It is very difficult not to be obese when so much calories are injected into the human body at once. Mental stress can cause a series of diseases that endanger health. Mental stress will first make people's belly bigger and bigger. If people do not get enough sleep, the level of lean protein, which regulates body fat, will decrease, and the secretion of hunger hormone will increase, which will increase the feeling of hunger and force people to eat, causing obesity. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal secretion of lean protein and hunger hormone, it is best to ensure 7-8 hours of sleep every day.

3. What should men eat if they are overweight?

Choose more whole-wheat foods: If you are used to eating refined rice and noodles, then when you want to lose weight, choose more whole-wheat foods, which can help you lose weight without being hungry. Eat more vegetables: Vegetables and fruits are rich in fiber and nutrients, so when losing weight, in addition to eating more fresh fruits, you should also eat more vegetables. Drink more water: You should drink 2000cc of water every day, not only to meet the needs of the body, but also because drinking more water can help lose weight. Eat more fresh fruits: You need to eat fruits every day when you don’t need to lose weight, but you may wish to increase the amount during the weight loss period.

The dangers of being overweight in men

1. There is not enough extra space in the liver to store fat. When obese people consume too much fatty acids, it will cause an imbalance between the synthesis and transport of triglycerides in the body. At this time, a large amount of triglycerides will remain in the liver. After a long period of accumulation, it will lead to fatty liver.

2. Obesity and high blood pressure are closely related. Men with obesity between the ages of 20 and 30 are twice as likely to develop high blood pressure as normal men of the same age. When they are between the ages of 40 and 50, the probability of obese men developing high blood pressure is 50% higher than that of normal men of the same age.

3. The large blood vessels in the brain of obese men are generally brittle and hard, which can easily lead to the risk of cerebral hemorrhage under the influence of high blood pressure. In severe cases or if not discovered in time, it may even put the obese male friend's life in danger.

4. Obesity in men may also induce hyperlipidemia, diabetes, bone and joint diseases, etc.
