Therefore, the underwear worn after the operation should be paid special attention. Never wear tight underwear, which will cause swelling or infection. In addition, you should also pay attention to applying cold compresses for a period of time as instructed by the doctor.

① Infection: Failure to effectively control inflammation of the foreskin and glans penis before surgery, mistaken circumcision for those with incarcerated foreskin, failure to pay attention to aseptic operation or rough surgical operation, urine contamination of the wound after surgery, etc. can all lead to wound infection. If infection occurs, you should seek medical treatment immediately.

② Bleeding and hematoma: mostly caused by incomplete hemostasis during surgery or loose ligature. It often occurs in the superficial veins of the penis and the frenulum of the prepuce. Bleeding from the superficial veins of the penis is prone to hematoma. Bleeding from the frenulum of the prepuce often results in blood flowing out of the wound, and can also form hematoma under the skin. For small hematoma, you can rest in bed, apply local cold compress for 2-3 days as prescribed by the doctor, and use antibacterial drugs to prevent infection; for large hematoma, you should seek medical treatment immediately.

③ Improper circumcision: If the circumcision is too much, the penis erection will be affected after the operation. In severe cases, skin grafting can be performed to correct it. If the circumcision is too little, the foreskin will still cover the glans penis after the operation. If the foreskin cannot be turned over satisfactorily or the infection still occurs repeatedly, another circumcision is required.

④ Frenulum edema: This is caused by leaving too much skin at the frenulum, bandaging too tightly, standing or walking too long on the day after surgery, etc. If frenulum edema occurs, you need to seek medical treatment immediately.

Treatment and recovery time

Generally, the stitches can be removed in 7-10 days, recovery can be done in about 20 days, and sexual intercourse can be resumed in about a month. However, the specific recovery time depends on each person's individual situation.

① Preoperative precautions

a. Clean the area the night before and on the day of surgery.

b. Patients with concurrent foreskin or glans inflammation need to receive treatment in advance and undergo surgery after the inflammation subsides.

c. Clean the vulva and foreskin. Those with long foreskin should turn the foreskin over to clean and remove as much smegma as possible. Those with phimosis need to rinse thoroughly.

d. Shave pubic hair one day before or on the day of surgery.

② Postoperative precautions

a. Within three months after circumcision, try to avoid walking, riding a bicycle, sexual stimulation and fantasies, etc. to prevent repeated erections of the penis from affecting the healing of the wound.

b. Keep the perineum clean. Some patients may feel discomfort in the foreskin after the operation. Scratching should be prohibited. The perineum should be wiped clean after urination and defecation to prevent local contamination.

c. Do not hold your urine to avoid repeated penile erections that may affect wound healing.

d. You can take sedatives before going to bed within 2 to 3 days after the operation, and you can take some estrogen orally for a short period of time to avoid pain and bleeding caused by penile erection.
