Where is the scrotum?

The male reproductive structure is also quite complex, especially the penis and scrotum, which are important components of the reproductive organs. The lack of either of these two parts will have a great impact on a man's normal reproductive ability. Since the male penis is located above the scrotum for a long time, male friends are more familiar with the penis. However, many men still wonder where the scrotum is mainly located?

The name of a human body part. The sac-like structure that hangs down from the male vulva contains organs such as the testicles, epididymis, and spermatic cord.

Physiological composition:

Testicles:

Male reproductive gland. One on each side, located in the scrotum. The testicle is a slightly flattened oval body with a smooth surface, divided into two sides, inside and outside, front and back edges, and upper and lower ends. The front edge is free, the back edge is attached to the mesentery, and the upper part of the back edge is connected to the epididymis. There is a layer of tough fibrous membrane on the surface of the testicle called the tunica albuginea. The tunica albuginea thickens at the back edge and generates several small septa toward the testicular parenchyma, dividing the parenchyma into many testicular lobules, which are composed of 2 to 3 convoluted seminiferous tubules and testicular stroma. After the convoluted seminiferous tubules leave the testicle, they form the rete testis, which sends out several testicular efferent ducts connected to the epididymis. The testicle has the function of producing sperm and secreting male hormones.

Epididymis:

Anatomical name. It is an anatomical tissue that is closely attached to the upper end and posterior edge of the testis. It is about 4 to 6 cm long and 0.4 to 0.5 mm in diameter. It can be divided into three parts: ① epididymal head: the enlarged part at the upper end of the epididymis; ② epididymal body: the flat and round part in the middle of the epididymis; ③ epididymal tail: the thinner part at the lower end of the epididymis. There is a layer of white membrane on the surface of the epididymis. The epididymal head is formed by the winding of the testicular efferent ductules. The ends of each efferent ductule merge into an epididymal duct. The epididymal duct is very long and twists downward to form the epididymal body and epididymal tail. The end of the epididymal duct bends backward and upward to form the vas deferens. The epididymis stores sperm and secretes fluid to nourish sperm, promote sperm development and maturation, and enhance its motility. The epididymis is a common site for male genital tuberculosis, which forms a nodule at the lesion.

Spermatic cord:

The spermatic cord is a cord-like object that suspends the testicle and epididymis. It is made up of blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, nerves and vas deferens covered with a membrane. The spermatic cord starts from the internal inguinal ring, runs in the inguinal canal, enters the scrotum after exiting the subcutaneous ring, and ends at the posterior edge of the testicle. The total length is about 11 to 15 cm. When the spermatic cord passes through the inguinal canal, the iliohypogastric nerve passes above, and the ilioinguinal nerve and the genital branch of the genital femoral nerve pass below. The vas deferens is located in the middle. The racemose veins are located in the front, and merge into 2 to 3 internal spermatic veins at the internal ring, and generally merge into one main trunk after reaching the retroperitoneum. The left internal spermatic vein returns to the left renal vein, while the right internal spermatic vein returns directly to the inferior vena cava. The spermatic cord lymphatic vessels collect lymph from the testicles and epididymis, and do not communicate with the inguinal lymph nodes, but directly flow into the iliac lymph nodes and lumbar lymph nodes.
