One side of the testicle is larger than the other side

One side of the testicle is larger than the other side

Normal men should have two testicles, and the size of these two testicles should be similar. Since the secretion of male hormones in each man's body is different, the size of the testicles is also different. However, some men find that their testicles are not only smaller than other men, but also that one side of their testicles is larger than the other side. So what are the related factors that cause one side of the testicle to be larger than the other?

Men always like to compare. Some people may find that their testicles are smaller than others, or that one side of their testicles is larger than the other side. This is actually testicular dysplasia.

Why does testicular dysplasia occur?

Testicular dysplasia means that there may be problems with the size and structure of the testicles, and the causes of these problems mainly include two major factors: congenital and acquired.

1. Congenital testicular dysplasia - genetic factors

Congenital testicular dysplasia is mostly caused by genetic factors - chromosomal abnormalities. A common chromosomal abnormality is called Klinefelter's syndrome, which has a higher incidence rate. There is also Kallmann syndrome, which is caused by abnormal low gonadotropin, resulting in abnormal testicular development.

2. Acquired testicular dysplasia - disease factors

Acquired testicular dysplasia means that the patient's chromosomes are normal, but due to the influence of various pathogenic factors during the fetal period, childhood or early childhood, the testicles develop abnormally.

Some children originally had normal chromosomes during the fetal period, but because the mother was exposed to environmental toxins while in the womb, or came into contact with pesticides while working on the farm, or came into contact with toxic or harmful chemicals while doing nail and hair work, the endocrine produced by the body after being exposed to these substances will affect the fetus itself, and its HPT axis will cause abnormal testicular development in the fetus and infant.

Another situation is that the fetus itself has occult testicles. After the newborn is born, the testicles have not descended to the scrotum on both sides. If the surrounding temperature is too high, it will increase the probability of abnormal testicular development of the newborn, and at the same time increase the probability of testicular cancer in the later stage.

In addition, some acquired infectious factors may also lead to testicular dysplasia. Some children have mumps, and when the mumps affects the testicles, it may cause viral orchitis, which in turn causes abnormal testicular development.

Testicular dysplasia can be unilateral or bilateral.

Testicular dysplasia can actually be divided into unilateral and bilateral.

Unilateral testicular abnormality: Both unilateral cryptorchidism and unilateral orchitis symptoms can lead to unilateral testicular abnormalities, but the harm is less than bilateral testicular abnormalities because the normal testicle on the other side can play a compensatory role.

Bilateral testicular abnormality: This condition is generally caused by systemic factors, such as abnormal development of bilateral testicles caused by chromosomal abnormalities.

What are the dangers of testicular dysplasia?

If testicular dysplasia occurs before puberty, it may affect secondary sexual characteristics. If testicular dysplasia occurs in adulthood, it will not only affect sperm production and androgen production, but also sexual function.
