Pearly papules in men

Pearly papules in men

Sometimes, the male penis will have various unknown symptoms. The cause of these serious diseases may be due to long-term neglect of penis hygiene. Of course, some people have various symptoms because of long foreskin or frequent touching of the penis with hands, which transfers bacteria from the hands to the penis. Pearly papules are one of them. So how to treat male pearly papules?

Causes:

The cause of penile pearly papules is not yet fully understood. The direct cause of this disease may be excessive foreskin, poor local hygiene, long-term stimulation of coronal sulcus secretions and dirt, or other factors, such as inflammatory reactions such as local redness and swelling caused by infection.

Clinical manifestations:

Pearly penile papules are more common in men around 20 to 40 years old. The lesions mainly occur at the junction of the edge of the glans penis and the coronal sulcus and/or the frenulum. It manifests as papules of 1 to 3 mm in size, with greater damage on both sides of the frenulum. The top of the papules is round and smooth, and some papules are hairy or thread-like. The papules do not fuse with each other, and are mostly densely arranged in one or more rows. They are obvious on the dorsal side of the glans penis and may partially or completely surround the glans penis. The color is mostly pearly white, a few are light red or skin-colored, and some may appear mildly red and swollen. There is no pain, no rupture, and the patient has no obvious subjective symptoms.

Diagnosis and differential diagnosis:

It can be differentiated from genital warts based on clinical, histopathological and human papillomavirus examinations, and the diagnosis is not difficult.

The key point in differentiating and diagnosing penile pearly papules and condylomas is that in the former, the lesions are limited to the edge of the glans penis, the number of lesions is larger, they are pearly milky white papules with a smooth surface, the lesions do not increase in size as the disease progresses, and the acetic acid test is negative; while in the latter, the lesions are not limited to the edge of the glans penis, they are mostly single and scattered, the lesions are larger, the surface is not smooth, and they are mostly cauliflower-shaped. They gradually increase in size as the disease progresses, the acetic acid test is positive, and concave cells are found in histopathological examination.

treatment:

Pearly penile papules are a benign lesion that can disappear on their own after a certain period of time. Some people may have no changes for decades. Because the disease is non-contagious and harmless to health, special treatment is usually not required. To prevent the symptom from worsening, attention should be paid to local hygiene and dryness. If the patient requires treatment, laser therapy, cryotherapy or topical medication can be used, but remember to avoid excessive damage that causes scarring and pain to the patient. Some patients may relapse after the above treatment. If the patient has a long foreskin, circumcision can be performed to avoid smegma stimulation.
