How to treat fungal infection of the glans penis

Fungal infection of the glans penis is a common disease of the reproductive system of many men, just like vaginitis in women. Fungal infection of the glans penis is very common, including many types, mainly from sexual transmission or lack of proper care. In addition, the long-term hot and stuffy weather in summer and problems with urination are the main causes of bacterial infection of the glans penis. It is crucial to find and treat it.

The main routes of infection are:

1. Sexually transmitted infection. The female reproductive tract mucosa harbors Candida albicans, some of which may become diseased while others may not and are long-term carriers. During sexual intercourse, these bacteria can be transmitted to the male genitals. If the foreskin is too long and personal hygiene is not taken care of, it is easy to cause fungal penile balanitis.

2. Use contaminated bathing utensils and take a bath in an unclean bathtub or pool.

3. Use soapy water too much to clean the foreskin and glans penis.

4. Long-term use of broad-spectrum antibiotics, hormones or immunosuppressants.

5. Diabetes is an important cause of infection.

Treatment measures

1. Use physiological saline or 0.1% Levanol rinse to clean the glans penis and foreskin to remove dirt.

2. Soak the foreskin and glans penis in 2% sodium bicarbonate solution.

3. Apply Pifukang lotion to the head of the penis 1-2 times a day.

4. Apply antifungal ointment, such as clotrimazole ointment or Fuqi ointment.

5. If urethral irritation occurs, nystatin 1 million units can be taken orally 3 times a day. Or fluconazole 400 mg per day for 5 consecutive days.

6. Erythromycin.

Recommendations during treatment:

1. Pay attention to local hygiene, clean the glans and foreskin every day. If the foreskin is too long, it should be treated in time and circumcision should be performed if necessary. It is very necessary to clean the smegma in time.

2. If one of the spouses suffers from a sexual organ disease, they should suspend sexual activity and seek timely treatment. For example, if the spouse suffers from trichomonas or Candida albicans infection, both spouses should receive treatment at the same time.

3. Avoid unclean sexual intercourse and keep yourself clean.

4. If ulcer or erosion occurs, change the dressing in time, twice a day, to avoid uncomfortable irritation.

5. For acute balanitis, avoid using corticosteroid ointments to prevent more serious infection.
