At what age does a man's sexual function decline?

We all know that women age very easily, but in fact men also have the characteristics of aging. As they age, many functions of the human body will be much worse than before. As they age, men's sexual function will also weaken. Although the time of weakening of sexual function varies from person to person, some people weaken faster due to various factors. So at what age does a man's sexual function weaken?

1. At what age does a man's sexual function weaken?

Generally, men's strength starts to weaken at the age of 35-40, and it weakens significantly from around 50 years old, but most can maintain it until 70 years old, or even longer.

2. Changes in men’s sexual function with age

1. Age-related changes in testicular function

The relationship between human aging and gonadal function is very close. Although the time of aging varies from person to person, it will happen sooner or later. Between the ages of 40 and 55, men will experience a transition from gonadal function to decline, which will manifest in changes in emotions, psychology, interests, energy, appetite, and sexual desire.

Before other organs age, the testicular tissue undergoes degenerative changes, which are manifested as a slow and progressive atrophy of the testicles. This degenerative change can be confirmed in testicular biopsy. The age and speed of physiological degeneration of testicular tissue often vary from person to person. The general trend is that this change worsens with age.

Aging causes the lamina propria and basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules to thicken, and then the spermatogenic epithelium to thin, the diameter of the seminiferous tubules to decrease, and the lumen to close. The interstitial tissue around the cells gradually undergoes local fibrosis, causing some adjacent seminiferous tubules to become completely fibrotic while others remain normal. Degenerative changes in the testicles are often accompanied by a decrease in blood circulation, followed by a decrease in the amount of semen and the total number of sperm, an increase in the percentage of inactive and abnormal sperm, and a decrease in the quality of seminal plasma.

The reduction of testicular weight and volume, the decrease of male hormone activity, the hypofunction of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, adrenal gland and gonads are all related to the aging of the testicles. The rapid development of the testicles during puberty has brought a variety of magical changes to the body, and now its slow degeneration will also have an important impact on the whole body. These morphological and physiological changes will not become obvious until after the age of 50, while the subjective feeling of menopausal sexual dysfunction is about 10 years earlier.
