What is the normal testosterone level for men?

What is the normal testosterone level for men?

Testosterone is not only found in men, but also in women. The testosterone in women is only 10% of that in men. Testosterone is very important for men. If the testosterone level in men is too low, it may affect their health. It will not only affect their sex life, but also their brain function and heart health. What is the normal value of testosterone in men?

1. What is the normal value of testosterone in men?

First, testosterone is a steroid hormone secreted by the male testicles or female ovaries. The adrenal glands also secrete a small amount of testosterone. The normal value for adult males is 14-25.4nmol/L.

Second, generally speaking, the normal value of testosterone for men is 260-1590ng/dl, 210-750ng/dl (over 50 years old), so the normal value of testosterone is not static, and it will change with age.

Third, many people are not only concerned about the normal testosterone value of men, but also very concerned about the normal testosterone value of women. The normal testosterone value of women in the follicular phase is 15-80ng/dl, the ovulation phase is 63-120ng/dl, the luteal phase is 15-80ng/dl, and the menopausal phase is 49-110ng/dl.

2. Clinical significance of testosterone:

1. Increased testosterone

It is seen in idiopathic precocious puberty and adrenal cortical hyperplasia in children, and some adrenal cortical tumors. It is also seen in male gonadotropin-secreting tumors, chorionic epithelial diseases during pregnancy, testicular feminization, and primary hirsutism. This condition can be treated with drugs such as barbiturate sedatives, clomiphene, gonadotropins, and oral contraceptives.

2. Decreased testosterone

It is seen in Down syndrome, uremia, myotonic dystrophy, liver dysfunction, primary and secondary hypogonadism, and cryptorchidism. Female testosterone is lower than male testosterone, and changes with the menstrual cycle. Testosterone decreases at rest and after glucose loading, and increases after activity. It can rise to more than 7.0nmol/L when females become masculine. In this case, the results can be lowered by taking androgens, dexamethasone, digoxin and other drugs, as well as ethanol.

Although testosterone is of great significance to men, it also has certain effects on women. When the testosterone level in a woman's body is too high, it may be due to abnormal ovarian function, which will affect ovulation and thus affect normal conception. If it is not regulated and treated in time, it may lead to infertility. Similarly, if the testosterone level in a man's body is too low, it may be due to abnormal testicular function, which will affect the normal discharge of sperm and conception. If it is not regulated or treated in time, it may also cause symptoms of infertility.

3. Notes

Therefore, for the sake of our physical health, we need to adjust testosterone in time until it reaches normal values, so as not to affect our healthy life.
