Can men with genital herpes have children?

Men also have a relatively high chance of contracting genital herpes. If you do not pay attention to the safety of your sexual life and engage in promiscuous sex, you may get this sexually transmitted disease. If you get this disease, you must receive good treatment. It is best not to have children before it is completely cured, because on the one hand it will affect pregnancy, and on the other hand it can easily cause fetal malformations.

Can men with genital herpes have children?

1. Impact on pregnancy

When a man has genital herpes, if the disease recurs frequently and the condition is unstable, his spouse should not become pregnant.

2. Low chance of eugenics and good parenting

Genital herpes is highly contagious. When a man has genital herpes, he can pass the virus to his wife. If his wife gets genital herpes during pregnancy, it can also affect her eugenics and may cause intrauterine infection and neonatal herpes infection, leading to miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or serious sequelae.

3. Affect fertility

Genital herpes is not hereditary. The virus has no effect on human fertility and is not transmitted to offspring through male semen or female eggs, but female patients can transmit the virus to the fetus through the placenta or during delivery.

Most newborns are infected with herpes during birth. It is difficult to see the symptoms of the virus at birth, so it is difficult to diagnose the infection of newborns. Generally, symptoms do not appear until the baby is one month old. The symptoms of newborns are mainly manifested in the following ways:

A. Central nervous system type, manifested by symptoms of intracranial infection such as increased intracranial pressure and convulsions.

B. Herpes type: herpes only appears on the skin, pharynx, eye conjunctivae, etc.

C. Systemic diffuse type, manifested by systemic toxic blood symptoms such as jaundice, hepatitis, and pneumonia.

If the above situations are not handled properly, there is a 70% mortality rate or neurological sequelae in neonatal herpes virus infection. Therefore, it is recommended that men and women of childbearing age must pay attention to actively prevent genital herpes infection. If unfortunately infected, they must be treated in time and have children after the disease stabilizes, or choose caesarean section to avoid infecting the newborn.
