What are the drugs that shrink the prostate?

Prostate disease is not unfamiliar to men. Most middle-aged men have poor prostate health. Even if they are not sick, they may be on the verge of illness. The most common prostate diseases in life are prostatitis and prostate hyperplasia. In fact, the latter can be completely controlled by drugs, which can "shrink" the prostate and prevent hyperplasia. So, what are the drugs for shrinking the prostate?

Proscar is a shaped film-coated tablet that appears white or off-white after the coating is removed. Proscar is indicated for the treatment and control of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and the prevention of urinary system events to reduce the risk of acute urinary retention. Proscar can shrink enlarged prostates. Proscar is a 4-azasteroid compound. Proscar is a specific inhibitor of type II 5-reductase, an intracellular enzyme in the process of testosterone metabolism into the more powerful androgen dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Proscar's benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or prostatic hypertrophy depends on the conversion of testosterone to DHT in the prostate. Proscar is very effective in reducing blood and intraprostatic DHT. Proscar has no affinity for androgen receptors.

Proscar had no effect on circulating levels of cortisol, estradiol, prolactin, thyroid stimulating hormone, or thyroxine compared to placebo. Proscar had no clinically significant effect on blood lipids (such as total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides) or bone mineral density. Proscar increased progesterone (LH) by approximately 15% and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) by approximately 9% in patients treated with Proscar for 12 months; however, these hormone levels remained within the physiological range.

Proscar did not change the levels of LH and FSH produced by gonadotropin-releasing hormone stimulation, indicating that it did not affect the regulation of the pituitary-testicular axis. Proscar was given to healthy male volunteers for 24 weeks to evaluate semen parameters, and the results showed that the product had no clinically significant effect on sperm concentration, motility, morphology or pH. In the Proscar trial, an average decrease of 0.6 ml in ejaculation volume was observed, accompanied by a decrease in the total amount of sperm per ejaculation. These parameters are still within the normal range and can be reversed after stopping the drug. Proscar dosage for prostate shrinkage: The recommended dose is 1 tablet (1 mg) once a day, with or without food.
