The red spots on the glans look like red blood vessels if you look closely. What disease is this?

For Asian men, prepuce is very common. It is harmful to the male. It is not only easy to hide dirt, but also may cause inflammation and even affect sexual life. Because the prepuce is too long, semen cannot reach the female body smoothly, so the chance of pregnancy is very low. So, when a man observes the glans penis, he finds red spots on it. What is this disease?

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), mainly HSV-2, and a small number of HSV-1. It is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. Genital herpes can recur, which has a great impact on the patient's health and psychology; it can also infect newborns through the placenta and birth canal, causing congenital infection in newborns. Therefore, this disease is also one of the more serious public health issues, and its effective prevention and treatment should be taken seriously.

1. Source of infection

Humans are the only natural host of herpes simplex virus. Patients in the onset and recovery stages, as well as those infected with the virus without obvious symptoms, are the source of infection for the disease. The disease is mainly transmitted through the virus present in the abscess fluid, local exudate, and the surface of the skin and mucous membranes of the lesions. The disease is mainly transmitted through sexual behavior, and less indirectly through contaminated objects. In addition, mothers with genital herpes can directly transmit the virus to newborns through the birth canal during delivery, or if they become ill during pregnancy, the virus can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta.

2. Transmission channels

Infected people spread the disease to their sexual partners mainly through sexual contact. Male homosexuals are also at great risk of infection. Sometimes people with herpes on the lips and around the mouth can infect their partners with genital herpes through oral-genital intercourse. Therefore, different forms of heterosexual or homosexual sexual behavior can spread genital herpes. Since infectious viruses can survive for several hours in a moist environment, they may also be spread indirectly through fomites in rare cases.

HSV-2 is the main pathogen of genital herpes (90%), which causes primary genital herpes after infection. After the initial genital herpes subsides, the remaining virus transfers along the nerve axis through the peripheral nerves to the sacral ganglia and remains dormant for a long time. When the body's resistance is reduced or certain stimulating factors such as fever, cold, infection, menstruation, gastrointestinal dysfunction, trauma, etc., the latent virus can be activated and the virus will move down to the surface of the skin and mucous membranes to cause damage and lead to recurrence. Humans are the only host of herpes virus. The virus cannot survive outside the human body. Ultraviolet rays, ether and general disinfectants can inactivate it.
