In clinical practice, male urethral stenosis is still a relatively common phenomenon. There are three main causes of this disease. The first is congenital factors, the second is urethral inflammation, and the third is traumatic factors. Regardless of the cause, patients can go to the hospital for urethral dilation surgery. The detailed steps of the surgery are as follows. Male urethral dilation surgery steps: 1. Insert the probe into the urethra If the patient is in a supine position, the operator stands on the patient's left side (or right side, depending on the examiner's habit); if the patient is in a lithotomy position, the operator can stand between the patient's thighs. The operator holds the probe handle with the thumb, index and middle fingers of the right hand, and the probe is coated with sterile lubricant. The left hand supports the patient's penis, straightens it upward, separates and fixes the external urethral opening with the thumb and middle finger, and slowly inserts the probe into the urethral opening. Urethral dilation 2. The probe is inserted into the bulbar urethra After the probe is inserted into the external urethral orifice, it is kept parallel to the patient's abdominal wall and the probe is continued to be inserted inward. After passing through the pendulous urethra, the tip of the probe slides into the bulbar urethra. Urethral dilation 3. The tip of the probe crosses the membranous urethra After the tip of the probe enters the bulbar urethra, the operator releases his left hand to remove tension from the penis. The operator then gently pushes the probe gradually toward the posterior urethra, while lifting it from a position parallel to the abdominal wall to a vertical position, so that its tip crosses the membranous urethra and enters the prostatic urethra. Urethral dilation 4. The tip of the probe enters the bladder After the tip of the probe passes through the membranous urethra, push the probe forward and push it down from a vertical position to a parallel position with the abdominal wall. When it is completely parallel, the front part of the probe has entered the bladder, thus completing the entire urethral dilation operation. When the probe enters the bladder, it can be twisted left and right in the urethra and bladder. After the urethral dilation is completed, remove the probe in the reverse order according to the above steps. Note: 1. After urethral stricture dilatation surgery, patients should generally take antibiotics for 1 to 2 days and be advised to drink plenty of water. 2. Patients who have urethral bleeding after urethral stricture dilatation surgery should stay for observation for several hours and can leave only after the bleeding stops. 3. Patients with severe complications after urethral stricture dilatation surgery should be hospitalized for further treatment. 4. The interval between two dilations for the treatment of urethral stenosis should be more than 1 week. |
