How to treat penile ligament rupture?

The penis is the most important reproductive organ for men, because it is the tool for male reproduction and the most important tool in the sexual life of couples. The size and length of the penis are different for each person, but the structure and basic ability are the same. Many men use too much force in their sexual life, which leads to frequent penile ligament rupture. Let's take a look at how to treat penile ligament rupture?

The penile ligament is composed of dense fiber bundles, starting from the lower part of the anterior and inferior part of the pubic symphysis and attached to the penile fascia downwards. Its main function is to fix the penis. Excessive use can lead to problems with penile erection, which can be treated surgically. The conservative treatment of penile fracture has complications as high as 30% to 44%, including missed diagnosis of urethral injury, persistent hematoma, secondary infection, penile fibrosis and angulation deformity, painful nodules, and sexual dysfunction caused by them. Patients who choose early surgical treatment do not have the above complications.

Patients usually complain that during sexual intercourse, the penis is twisted, with a sound when it is broken, accompanied by severe pain, and then the penis erection disappears. The penis becomes soft, swollen, bent and deformed and leans toward the healthy side. Due to the rupture and bleeding of the corpus cavernosum and tunica albuginea, blood edema and ecchymosis are formed, and the penis skin becomes bluish purple. Urinating is generally normal.

1. Non-surgical treatment :

Treatment measures include sedation and analgesia, indwelling urinary catheter, penile pressure bandage, local cold compress first, hot compress after 24 hours, oral estrogen, intravenous antibiotic treatment, non-surgical treatment of penile swelling that subsides slowly, and local scar nodules, as well as complications such as penile erectile dysfunction and painful erection.

2.Surgery :

Rupture of the corpus cavernosum of the penis should generally be treated as soon as possible to avoid complications. Treatment measures include: removing blood swelling, suturing the ruptured tunica albuginea with silk sutures, and stopping bleeding surgically. Generally, the penis swelling subsides within 10 days after the operation, and sexual function recovers well after the operation.

The above is an explanation of how to treat penile ligament rupture. I hope men will pay attention to protecting their penis in life to prevent accidents that may harm penile health.
