If a man has a long foreskin, he is prone to balanitis. This is because the glans penis secretes a substance that accumulates inside the foreskin, producing smegma, which makes it easy for bacteria to grow inside the foreskin. If this continues for a long time, balanitis will develop. There are many types of balanitis. You must find out the type before treatment. You can judge based on the following symptoms. 1. What is balanitis? What is balanitis? Balanitis is a genital disease with a high incidence rate. Patients with balanitis almost always have phimosis or prepuce that is too long. Between the glans penis and the long prepuce, a warm and moist bacterial culture medium is formed due to the shedding of epithelial cells, glandular secretions and smegma bacteria. Once bacteria enter, they can cause inflammation. Balanitis is more common in young men. Patients may develop the disease due to excessive foreskin, smegma, and accumulation of dirt in the foreskin due to lack of attention to local hygiene, coupled with bacterial infection. 2. Symptoms of balanitis Patients with mild balanitis in the early stage may experience flushing of the glans penis and the inner foreskin, accompanied by itching. Severe patients may experience pain and tenderness. As the disease progresses, in the late stage of balanitis, patients may experience edema and congestion of the glans penis and foreskin, redness around the urethral opening, wounds and erosions, and may develop into superficial ulcers with purulent secretions. Patients may feel itching or burning in the glans penis, followed by pain, which may affect urination and cause urination pain. After the affected area ulcers, pus may flow and have a foul odor. Severe cases may also experience fatigue, low fever, enlarged inguinal lymph nodes, and tenderness. The specific manifestations of glansitis vary depending on the pathogenic factors: Acute superficial glans balanoposthitis: Initially, local flushing, redness and swelling of the penis skin, burning and itching of the glans. When the foreskin is turned back, congestion and erosion can be seen, with exudate and even bleeding. After secondary infection, small ulcers and milky white foul-smelling secretions can be seen. Annular ulcerated glans balanoposthitis: Erythema can be seen on the glans foreskin, which gradually expands into a ring shape and forms an ulcerated surface. Candida albicans balanoposthitis: Erythema can be seen on the foreskin and glans, with a smooth surface and small blisters and clear edges. Erosion and exudate are present during acute attacks. Trichomonal glans balanoposthitis: papules and erythema appear on the glans and gradually expand with clear edges. Small needle-sized blisters can be seen on the erythema, and finally an erosive surface is formed. 3. Causes of balanitis 1. External genital infection The sebaceous glands of the male foreskin secrete vigorously. If you don't pay attention to regular cleaning, the secretions will easily accumulate under the foreskin, forming smegma. Smegma is a good culture medium for bacteria. If it is not removed in time and thoroughly, it will easily cause bacterial infection. 2. Foreskin is too long If a man's foreskin is too long, it is easy to cause smegma to accumulate, which is difficult to remove and can easily cause inflammation. Therefore, it is best for men with long foreskin to undergo circumcision. 3. Transmission through sexual intercourse If a man has sex with a woman who has infectious vaginitis, he is likely to be infected with the pathogenic bacteria, causing balanitis. Secondly, contact between the genitals and objects, such as other people's underwear, bath towels, bathtubs, etc., plus if the foreskin is too long, the bacteria will multiply and proliferate in the inner plate of the foreskin, the coronal sulcus and the glans, which can also easily cause inflammation. 4. Masturbation Young men have strong sexual desire and often masturbate. If they masturbate roughly, it will cause foreskin damage. Because of the high excitement during masturbation, the damage is relatively small and may not be easy to detect. However, the damage on the foreskin is easily contaminated by bacteria, thus inducing balanitis. 5. Improper use of medication When some men's genitals are injured or itchy, they will buy medicines and simply apply or wash them. However, some medicines are highly corrosive and can easily cause drug-induced inflammation. It is recommended that men follow the doctor's instructions to choose appropriate medicines. |
