Symptoms of menopause in middle-aged men: we must know how to correctly judge them in the future

Women may enter menopause in their forties, during which they will experience a series of symptoms. Men also have menopause, and the symptoms of men's menopause are also more obvious, such as indigestion, emotional instability, endocrine disorders, etc.

1. Skin relaxation and itching.

Men's skin becomes loose during menopause, and their muscles are not as strong as when they were young. This is related to the fact that middle-aged men eat more, exercise less, and have metabolic disorders. You can eat more seafood rich in iodine and unsaturated fatty acids, such as kelp and seaweed, to promote metabolism, protect the skin, and prevent skin itching that is common at this age.

2. Endocrine disorders.

During menopause, the testosterone level decreases, leading to endocrine disorders, which are manifested as memory loss, fatigue, dizziness, and general discomfort. You can rest more, reduce stress, eat regularly, and exercise regularly. If the symptoms are still not relieved and there are symptoms such as bilateral thyroid enlargement, bulging eyes, and staring eyes, you should suspect the possibility of hyperthyroidism.

3. Urinary system symptoms.

Many menopausal men have symptoms such as frequent urination, urgent urination, difficulty urinating, and increased nocturia, which are related to prostate hyperplasia caused by androgen imbalance. Prostate hyperplasia needs to be treated, and attention should be paid to eating a light diet, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol, and eating less spicy food. Acute cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, etc. can also cause similar symptoms, which need to be identified by a doctor.

4. Poor quality of sex life.

A decrease in androgen levels can lead to decreased libido, decreased sexual activity, and decreased erection hardness. You can eat more foods that can improve and enhance gonadal function, such as lamb, shrimp, walnuts, sesame, etc., and pay attention to not excessive sex life, so as not to feel tired.

5. Mental fragility.

Men in menopause are often sensitive, impatient, and irritable; they are depressed, feel uneasy or fearful, lonely, and lack confidence in doing things. The American Psychological Association recommends that men in menopause should not blame themselves, talk to family members or trusted friends, and participate in activities that can make them feel accomplished. If you are no longer interested in things that you usually like, you should consider the possibility of depression and it is best to see a psychiatrist.

6. Unstable cardiovascular function.

Men in menopause experience problems such as poor vascular elasticity and arteriosclerosis, which are prone to facial flushing, sweating, palpitations, headaches, and dyspnea, as well as numbness of hands and feet. You can moderately consume foods that improve cardiovascular function, such as mulberries, longans, dates, yams, and walnuts. If you often experience shortness of breath and chest tightness, you'd better be alert to common menopausal diseases such as arteriosclerosis and hypertension.

7. Indigestion.

Symptoms include loss of appetite, abdominal distension, bitter taste in the mouth, constipation, diarrhea, etc. You should pay attention to a balanced diet, eat less foods high in sugar, salt, and oil, and eat more fruits and vegetables. If you experience upper abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, or increased bowel movements, blood or mucus in the stool, etc., you should consider the possibility of a malignant gastrointestinal tumor and go to the gastroenterology department for treatment.

8. Pain in waist and leg joints.

Men in menopause may experience hunchbacks, joint pain, backache, and leg weakness. You can supplement with milk and soy products rich in protein and calcium. If joint pain worsens after excessive drinking or overwork, accompanied by fever, fatigue, and increased heart rate, be alert to the possibility of gout.
