The condition of penile distension is often called penile curvature. Many penile curvatures are physiological, and the most common one is abnormal development of the corpus cavernosum of the penis. Penile curvature will occur when sexual life is too exciting. Patients should receive timely treatment to eliminate psychological concerns. 1. Causes In daily life, men generally ignore or even neglect the care and maintenance of "penile curvature", a common symptom among men. In sexual psychology consultation, it is not uncommon to see men who are troubled by penile curvature. In fact, most of them have physiological curvature. Because the inside of the penis is composed of three parallel long cylindrical corpora cavernosa, the two side by side on the back are called penile corpora cavernosa, and the other one on the ventral side, with the urethra passing through, is called urethral corpora cavernosa. Normally the penis is in a flaccid state. When sexually excited, the sinus vascular muscles in the cavernous body tissue relax, and a large amount of blood flows into the sinus cavernosum. When the flow reaches a certain level, the elastic white membrane covering the outside of the cavernous body of the penis will expand fully. The expanded state is like a hard columnar body like a fully inflated ball, and supports the penis to stand upright. The key is the elastic fibers between the two cavernous bodies of the penis. When they are pulled to the extreme, the penis is fully erect. Because the cavernous bodies of the urethra are correspondingly engorged and expanded, the penis is generally slightly bent downward when it is erect, and it is only hard and straight after it is fully erect. However, under normal conditions, the penis is not fully erect. It is only in the brief few seconds before reaching orgasm that it will be fully erect. A slight bend or twist is also within the normal range. Of course, there are also very few cases of pathological bends. 2. Common symptoms that cause penile curvature include the following: 1. Abnormal development of the corpora cavernosa of the penis. The two corpora cavernosa of the penis are asymmetrical, and the penis will bend to one side during erection. If the bend is not severe, there will be no pain or discomfort during erection. It is comfortable and does not affect sexual life, so no special treatment is needed. 2. Congenital malformations such as epispadias or hypospadias. In this type of patient, the urethral opening is not in the middle of the glans penis, but in the coronal sulcus of the penis, the penis shaft, or even close to the scrotum. The damaged urethra is replaced by fibrous tissue. When the penis is erect, it is pulled by the fibrous tissue and becomes bent, requiring surgical correction. 3. Penile injury or diseases such as fibrous cavernosum and penile sclerosis can also cause penile curvature. The angle of pathological curvature is generally large, pointing upward or downward. It is generally believed that when the penis is erect, the upward bending angle is less than 40°, the downward bending angle or the left and right bending angle is less than 30°, and the sexual life is satisfactory. If the curvature is large, you should go to the urology department or the andrology department for treatment. |
