Abdominal obesity can easily damage internal organs, so losing belly fat is crucial!

Experts have found that if a person is fat in the abdomen, the incidence of diseases such as high blood pressure will be much higher than that of ordinary people. And abdominal obesity is also very common in men. What health problems will abdominal obesity bring?

Belly fat, apple-like body

Abdominal obesity, also known as central obesity, refers to the accumulation of fat in the abdomen, which is manifested as an increase in waist circumference. The fat of these people is mainly deposited under the skin of the abdomen and in the abdominal cavity. The waist circumference is often larger than the hip circumference, and the limbs are relatively thin. From the appearance, the body shape of people with abdominal obesity is very similar to that of an apple, so it is also called apple-shaped obesity.

In April 2005, the International Diabetes Federation pointed out in its global unified definition of metabolic syndrome that waist circumference is used as the diagnostic standard for central obesity: American men>102cm, women>88cm; European men>94cm, women>80cm; Japanese men>85cm, women>80cm; Chinese and Southeast Asian men>90cm, women>80cm. The Chinese Obesity Working Group has defined a standard suitable for the Chinese population: men with waist circumference ≥85cm and women with waist circumference ≥80cm are abdominal obesity.

People with abdominal obesity are more likely to damage their internal organs

BMI and waist circumference reflect the degree of different types of fat accumulation, among which BMI mainly reflects the total body fat content, and waist circumference mainly reflects the accumulation of visceral fat in the abdomen. The increase in visceral fat content or the proportion of visceral fat to total fat is an important factor in health hazards. Visceral fat mainly exists in the abdominal cavity, such as around and inside organs such as the liver, pancreas, stomach, and intestines. When too much visceral fat enters the digestive system, it will cause damage to organs such as the liver, causing fatty liver, and will also disrupt metabolism and cause symptoms such as diabetes. Not only that, visceral fat will also make it difficult for toxins in the body to be eliminated normally, thereby producing a variety of chemicals and causing heart disease; visceral fat will also increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and cause arteritis, etc. In addition, abdominal fat can compress the lungs, causing obese people to breathe rapidly. The more difficult it is to breathe, the more likely it is that the blood will not be able to deliver enough oxygen, which can lead to general fatigue, impaired immunity, and even high blood pressure. Many studies have used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT technology to accurately measure the body's fat content, proving that visceral fat content is a better indicator of a variety of chronic diseases and even death than total body fat.

The body fat distribution of the Chinese population is different from that of the Western population, with abdominal obesity being the main type. For those whose weight is within the normal range but whose waist circumference exceeds the normal limit, their risk of high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases is still very high, but it is often ignored.
