1. The longitudinal section of the urethra is a thin line with low-level echoes, located in the urethral cavernous body. Urethral sonosonography (injection of saline or lidocaine solution) can make the neat and smooth urethral wall appear clearly, showing a thin line of high echoes.

2. The longitudinal section of the cavernous body is a strip-like structure with neat boundaries, and the interior is a medium-level uniform dot-like echo. The long-axis section of the deep artery of the penis is a parallel thin line with high echo, which is most clearly displayed during erection.

3. Normal value of deep penile artery measurement

(1) Diameter: In the relaxed state, the inner diameter of the deep penile artery is 0.3-0.8 mm, with an average of about 0.5±0.1 mm. Five minutes after the injection of vasodilators into the cavernous body, the vascular diameter is >0.7-0.8 mm.

(2) Doppler spectrum parameters

① In the relaxed state, the peak flow rate during contraction is VSP 10-15 cm/sc. After injection, VSPt>35 cm/s. The maximum can reach 60 cm/s.

② Resistance index (RI): In the relaxed state, the RI value is about 1.0; after injection, RI is less than 1.0 at first due to the existence of diastolic blood flow, and then the resistance index gradually increases. When the penis swells, RI gradually approaches 1.0 as VSP increases.
