How is vascular migraine diagnosed?

Migraine is a long-term headache characterized by unilateral or bilateral headache caused by vasomotor dysfunction inside and outside the cranium. Clinically, unilateral headache is the most common, the cause is unknown, and it is often accompanied by family inheritance. So what are the examination methods for this disease?

1. Cerebral blood flow examination: The main change of the patient's cerebral blood flow during the attack and interval period is the asymmetry of the amplitude on both sides, one side is higher or the other side is lower.

2. Cerebral angiography: In principle, patients with migraine do not need cerebral angiography. Only when the patient has a severe headache and is highly suspected of having subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral angiography is performed to exclude diseases such as intracranial arterial aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation. Undoubtedly, the cerebral angiography of patients with migraine is normal in the vast majority of cases.

3. Cerebrospinal fluid examination: Routine examination of the cerebrospinal fluid of patients with migraine is usually normal, and the lymphocytes in the cerebrospinal fluid may increase under normal circumstances.

4. Electroencephalogram examination: It is generally believed that the abnormality rate of electroencephalogram in patients with migraine is higher than that of normal controls, whether in the attack period or the intermittent period. However, the changes in electroencephalogram of patients with migraine are not specific, because it can have normal waveforms. There are various waveforms such as ordinary slow waves, spike wave discharges, focal spike waves, quasi waves, and abnormal reactions to excessive ventilation and flash stimulation. The abnormality rate of electroencephalogram in children with migraine is relatively high, ranging from 9% to 70%, and spike waves, paroxysmal slow waves, fast wave activities and diffuse slow waves may appear.
