1. Is bone tuberculosis contagious?

If there is only bone tuberculosis, it will not be transmitted through daily contact. The tuberculosis bacteria mainly cause pulmonary tuberculosis through respiratory tract infection, and then spread to other organs of the body through the lymph nodes and blood system, collectively known as extrapulmonary tuberculosis, which accounts for about 15% of tuberculosis.

2. How is tuberculosis spread?

Tuberculosis is spread when a pulmonary tuberculosis patient coughs or sneezes during the infectious period, and healthy people are infected by inhaling droplets containing tuberculosis. Therefore, if the patient is only a bone tuberculosis patient, daily contact will not spread tuberculosis.

3. Is bone tuberculosis abscess contagious?

Bone tuberculosis is not contagious. 95% of bone tuberculosis is secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis, and tuberculosis bacilli cannot directly invade bones and joints. Therefore, bone tuberculosis is not contagious. However, after bone tuberculosis causes abscesses to rupture, improper handling of tuberculosis bacteria in the pus may cause infection.
