What are the symptoms of high thyroid stimulating hormone?

High TSH may be unfamiliar to many people, and I believe that most people do not know much about it. In fact, knowing about high TSH is very helpful to us. Let's learn about the symptoms of this disease.

What are the symptoms of high thyroid stimulating hormone?

1. Mucinous edema: Facial swelling: loose eyelids, thickened nose and lips, indifferent expression, "dull" and "sluggish" and "mask-like" listlessness, large tongue and hoarseness, unclear speech, slurred speech, and a few patients have exophthalmos. 2. Digestive system: patients have loss of appetite, constipation, abdominal distension, and even paralytic intestinal obstruction. About half of the patients have complete gastric acid deficiency. 3. Due to the stimulation of superphysiological thyroid hormone, insulin function can be damaged to varying degrees, resulting in reduced insulin function, reduced insulin secretion and enhanced degradation, thus inducing or aggravating diabetes, and reducing the patient's sensitivity to insulin.

3. Low basal metabolic rate syndrome: fatigue, sluggish sensation, slow movements, intellectual impairment, severe memory loss, drowsiness, lack of concentration, chillness, fear of cold, dry and falling hair, slow beard growth for men, no sweating, and body temperature below normal.

4. Pale skin and thyroid hormone deficiency: This leads to the weakening of the function of subcutaneous carotene conversion to vitamin A and vitamin A to generate retinal. Plasma carotene increases, and due to anemia, the skin becomes pale, waxy yellow, rough, dull, dry, thick, and cold with lots of scaling and keratinization, especially on the hands, arms, and thighs. A small number of patients gain weight. Nails grow slowly, become thick and brittle, and show cracks.

5. Reproductive system: Female patients may have symptoms such as excessive menstruation and amenorrhea, sometimes amenorrhea with galactorrhea, male breast development and lactation, and early menarche in female patients.

6. Myxedema coma: seen in patients with severe conditions, often in winter when it is cold. Causes include severe systemic diseases, interruption of thyroid hormone replacement therapy, cold, surgery, anesthesia and use of sedatives. Clinical manifestations include drowsiness, hypothermia (<35℃), bradypnea, bradycardia, decreased blood pressure, relaxation of limb muscles, weakened or absent reflexes, and even coma, shock, and renal insufficiency that endangers life. Myxedema is also called true myxedema, characterized by systemic edema and non-pitting edema of the skin, that is, no pitting changes occur when pressing with fingers. The skin in the swollen area is pale or waxy yellow, and is accompanied by characteristic facial manifestations: apathetic and dull expression, swollen face and eyelids, broad nose, thick lips, large, smooth and red tongue, slurred speech, slow and labored speech, etc.

Warm reminder: Since high thyroid hormone is very harmful, you should pay more attention to your daily life and pay attention to your own small changes. Once you find that your thyroid hormone is elevated, you must go to a regular public thyroid hospital for treatment in time. I hope that patients can recover soon!
