There are several types of hair loss. Which one is yours?

With the continuous progress of society, many people are under great pressure and working hard for the happiness of their families. This enterprising spirit is good, but many people suffer from hair loss due to excessive work, which threatens everyone's health. In fact, hair loss can be divided into many types, which I will introduce to you below.

1. Seborrheic alopecia. It is a type of alopecia caused by excessive secretion of sebum, often accompanied by increased dandruff, greasy scalp, and obvious itching. It often occurs in young people with active secretion of sebaceous glands. The hair is fine and soft, and some are accompanied by seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. The hair starts to become sticky gradually from the top of the head and spreads to the forehead. The scalp is greasy and bright red, with yellow oily scabs. The treatment of seborrheic alopecia (seborrheic alopecia is a type of hair loss caused by excessive sebum secretion. Its symptoms are excessive secretion of scalp fat, often accompanied by increased dandruff, greasy scalp, and obvious itching) must first focus on the health care of the hair, eat less greasy and spicy food, wash the hair frequently, use local medication to remove grease, reduce dandruff, and reduce inflammation and itching.

2. Congenital alopecia: This is relatively rare. Patients are born without hair on the whole body or part of the body. This is usually combined with other congenital abnormalities, such as developmental defects or deformities of nails, teeth, and bones, which may be caused by chromosomal abnormalities.

3. Localized patchy hair loss. It occurs suddenly and progresses slowly. The cause may be temporary inhibition of hair growth caused by neuropsychiatric factors, endocrine disorders, and immune dysfunction. Infection or other visceral diseases may also be related to it. It manifests as the sudden appearance of round or oval patchy hair loss on the head, which is usually asymptomatic, and the affected scalp is smooth and shiny. As the disease progresses, the damage expands, the surrounding hair becomes loose and easy to fall off, and some patients may lose all their hair. In severe cases, eyebrows, beards, armpit hair, etc. may also fall off. The disease can heal itself, but it often recurs, and the course of the disease can last for several months or longer. The new hair in the recovery period is thin, soft, grayish white, and gradually becomes thick and black, and returns to normal after zzz.

4. Psychogenic hair loss. Psychogenic hair loss is caused by excessive mental stress. Under the influence of mental stress, the body's arrector pili muscles contract, the hair stands upright, and the capillaries that transport nutrients to the hair follicles contract, causing local blood circulation disorders, which in turn causes changes in hair ecology and malnutrition. Mental stress can also cause excessive sweating and excessive secretion of sebaceous glands, resulting in dandruff, reducing the quality of the environment for hair survival, and thus leading to hair loss.

5. Alopecia areata. It is a kind of localized hair loss that occurs suddenly. The skin of the affected area is normal, non-inflammatory, and smooth. The hair falls out in patches and can last for months or years. Most of them can regenerate. There may be 1 to 2 patches of hair loss, and more than 10 patches in some cases. In severe cases, the entire head hair falls out rapidly, which is called total alopecia. In a very small number of patients, in addition to hair loss, hair in other parts of the body, such as eyebrows, eyelashes, beards, armpit hair, pubic hair, etc., and even all the vellus hair on the body, also falls out, which is called general alopecia.

6. Physical hair loss. This includes hair style hair loss, local friction irritation hair loss, burn hair loss, and radiation damage hair loss. Mechanical hair loss is caused by certain special hairstyles that cause hair to break or fall out, such as women's braids, buns, and men's side-parted hairstyles. Hair needs to maintain a certain degree of natural fluff and appropriate elasticity against pressure. If it is directly subjected to tension, it is easy to cause the hair on the forehead to break and fall out, and the hairline to recede. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays in sunlight and frequent use of hot hair dryers can also cause hair to become thinner.

Warm reminder: Experts say that avoiding serious hair loss mainly starts from daily life. First, pay attention to diet. Patients with hair loss should not eat spicy and greasy foods that will stimulate the hair follicles to secrete too much oil. Such foods are easy to cause seborrheic dermatitis and folliculitis of the scalp, which indirectly leads to increased hair loss. Secondly, avoid using strong alkaline shampoos. Patients with hair loss should choose neutral or weak acidic shampoos that are non-irritating to the scalp and hair, so as not to aggravate the degree of hair loss.

Different types of hair loss have different causes and different external symptoms, so the treatment measures taken are also different. So if you suffer from hair loss, you must first identify your hair loss type and cause, and then take corresponding treatment measures. You must have targeted treatment and do not blindly follow the advice of others.
