Soaking in hot springs in winter is a warm enjoyment. Many people like to go there in winter, but for men, soaking in hot springs frequently in winter is harmful to health and can easily lead to infertility. In the cold winter, hot springs have become the best choice for many people to relax. However, men who are preparing to have children should be reminded not to soak in hot springs too frequently or for too long, otherwise it may affect the quantity and quality of sperm and even lead to infertility. In clinical practice, we often encounter some male infertility patients who usually pay attention to physical exercise, rest on time, do not smoke or drink, but the sperm quality is not up to standard. These patients often have a common hobby, that is, they like to soak in hot springs. Some patients soak once or twice a week, and sometimes steam saunas. Little do they know that the sperm in their bodies that carry the mission of reproduction cannot withstand such a "hot" test. Sperm is produced in the testicles and matures in the epididymis. The testicles are located in the human scrotum, one on each side. After entering puberty, under the regulation of reproductive endocrine hormones, the testicles begin to produce sperm continuously, and men are basically capable of reproduction. The scrotum is located outside the body cavity, and its temperature is 2-8 degrees Celsius lower than the core temperature of the body. This temperature is conducive to the production and maturation of sperm. However, the water temperature of hot springs is mostly controlled at 38-42 degrees Celsius, and some are even higher. Frequent hot spring bathing will increase the local temperature of the scrotum, thereby affecting the function of the testicles, especially the spermatogenesis process, leading to a decrease in fertility. In addition, wearing tight pants, placing a laptop or keyboard on the thighs, sitting for a long time and other lifestyle habits will also increase the local temperature of the scrotum, leading to a decrease in sperm quality. Clinically, varicocele (a vascular disease) and cryptic testis patients have a certain relationship with the increase in testicular temperature. Therefore, it is recommended that men who want to have children limit their visits to hot springs or saunas to one or two times a month, and they should come out of the hot spring and rest for a while after soaking for more than ten minutes. |
