What is the cause of the sediment in the urine?

Men sometimes find their urine cloudy when they urinate. However, some people are not affected by this phenomenon and do not pay attention to it because their lives have not changed much. In fact, this is also the beginning of disease. At this time, you should pay attention to whether it is caused by insufficient drinking water or other diseases. Finding out the cause will help treat cloudy urine. So, what is the reason for cloudy urine in men?

What causes cloudy urine in men?

1. Clear when first discharged, turbid after being left

Normal urine is clear and transparent when fresh, with a light yellow or colorless color. However, after the urine is left for a short period of time, various salts in the urine (such as urate, phosphate, carbonate, etc.) will crystallize out, making the lower part of the urine cloudy white.

This is caused by urine concentration and is a physiological phenomenon rather than a pathological condition. However, if a large amount of sediment appears or the turbidity is very serious, you should go to the hospital for examination.

The urine that is just discharged is clear. After it stays for a while, you will find some tiny dark brown sand particles settled at the bottom of the urine. Some people vividly call them fish roe (egg)-like small sand particles. These are uric acid crystals, which are often formed when a large amount of uric acid is excreted in the urine of gout patients and crystals are precipitated.

2. It is turbid when discharged

Chylous urine: Urine is milky white like milk, sometimes with small jelly-like clots. This is more common in lymphatic system diseases.

Purulent urine: When the urine is mixed with a large number of white blood cells and inflammatory tissue fragments, the entire urine is dirty white and turbid. This is mostly caused by bacterial infection, often accompanied by more obvious symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency and pain during urination.

Hematuria: When there are a large number of red blood cells in the urine, the urine will be light red, and in severe cases it will be red. This is gross hematuria. When the red blood cells rupture, the urine will appear the color of pork washing water, which is hemoglobinuria. The appearance of gross hematuria and hemoglobinuria indicates that the kidneys and other organs of the urinary system are diseased.

In addition, when a large number of casts and mucus threads appear in the urine, the urine will become turbid when it is excreted.

3. Urine is clear at first, but the last few drops are turbid urine

This phenomenon is only seen when men urinate and the bladder muscles contract, especially at the end of urination, which can easily "pull" or squeeze the prostate and seminal vesicles, so that the secreted prostatic fluid or semen is also squeezed out a little. The few drops of turbid liquid after urination are a mixture of urine, prostatic fluid and semen.

This phenomenon is mostly physiological, especially when a man is excited. But a small part of it is due to inflammation of the prostate or seminal vesicle, which makes it easier to be irritated by the contraction of the bladder and discharge a small amount of secretions. This is pathological and needs further examination and confirmation.

Treatment for cloudy urine in men

1. Prostatitis: Prostatitis may be a disease with mild or no symptoms, a self-limiting disease that can resolve on its own, or a disease with complex symptoms that may lead to urinary tract infection, sexual dysfunction, infertility, etc.

2. Prostatic hyperplasia: The harmfulness of prostatic hyperplasia lies in the pathological and physiological changes caused by lower urinary tract obstruction. The pathological individual differences are very large, and not all of them are progressive. Some of the lesions will no longer develop after reaching a certain degree, so even if mild obstruction symptoms occur, not all of them require surgery.

3. Urethritis, mycoplasma and chlamydia: There are many kinds of drugs currently used for treatment. 2-3 drugs should be selected and used in combination according to the type of pathogen and its sensitivity to the drugs. The curative effect is better. The medication should be continued for 7-10 days before stopping after the symptoms disappear completely, the urine test is normal, and the bacterial culture is negative.

4. Cystitis: Symptoms of male cystitis include frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating, and even urge incontinence, or hematuria, purulent urine, turbid urine, a foul odor, itching, burning sensation, and blood in the urine.

First of all, a clinical assessment should be conducted to determine the type of disease and choose a treatment method based on the cause. Misunderstanding the disease, unnecessary anxiety and excessive abstinence will aggravate the symptoms. Finally, the editor reminds everyone that patients first need to rest in bed, drink plenty of water, avoid irritating foods, and cooperate with doctors for active treatment.
