How to check for orchitis?

If a man has orchitis, he will feel pain in his testicles and cannot have sex, so this disease is a double blow to men, both physically and mentally. After suffering from orchitis, do not be afraid of seeing a doctor, and must be treated in time, so that the disease can be cured quickly, allowing men to regain their masculinity and confidence. So if you suspect that you have orchitis, how should you check it?

In the acute stage of orchitis, there is high fever, chills, and testicular pain radiating to the groin, accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Acute mumps orchitis usually occurs 3-4 days after the onset of mumps, with a high fever of up to 40°C, often accompanied by prostration, red and swollen scrotum, enlarged testicles, hydrocele, and obvious tenderness. If it is mumps, enlarged parotid glands may also be found.

If you suspect you have orchitis, you can do the following tests to confirm the diagnosis:

Local inspection

After bilateral scrotal masses are detected, benign and malignant lesions can be roughly distinguished. After a testicular tumor is suspected, a local puncture biopsy of the testicular tumor is not suitable because it is more likely to cause tumor metastasis. The nature of the testicular tumor must be confirmed by the pathological report after surgery.

Testicular self-examination

Relax the scrotum so that you can feel for lumps and abnormalities. During the examination, stand on both feet and feel for lumps or other abnormalities. Normal testicles are oval in shape, smooth in surface, and of medium hardness.

B-ultrasound examination

It can more accurately measure the size and shape of the testicles and whether there is a tumor. Patients with cryptic testicles can understand the development of the testicles and whether they are enlarged or malignant.

Blood test

If the tumor markers human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG, normal value <5 micrograms/liter) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP normal value <25 micrograms/liter) are above the normal value, further examination should be performed.

Once you find tenderness in your testicles, or even feel a lump, or even have symptoms of fever, nausea, and vomiting, you are very likely to have orchitis, especially if you are suffering from mumps. At this time, you must pay attention to go to the hospital for examination in time. The sooner the diagnosis is, the sooner the cure can be achieved.
