In recent years, with the continuous improvement of living standards, more and more people have high uric acid levels. Uric acid is an important indicator of whether the human kidney function is healthy, and the kidney is an important organ for excretion in the human body. Therefore, when the uric acid level in the body is too high, people’s physical health will also have some problems. However, there are no symptoms in the early stages of high uric acid. So what should we do if there is too much uric acid in the body? Uric acid is a metabolic waste product with no physiological function. Two-thirds of the uric acid in the human body is excreted through urine, and the remaining one-third is excreted from the intestines or decomposed by bacteria in the intestines. Excessive production of uric acid and/or decreased excretion of uric acid can lead to hyperuricemia, and some can lead to gout. Two methods for detecting uric acid Determination of blood uric acid (multiple uses) Draw venous blood to measure uric acid. The normal value of blood uric acid is 0.15~0.38mmol/L (millimoles/liter) for men and 0.1~0.3mmol/L for women. The test value of women after menopause is close to that of men. If the blood uric acid value is higher than 0.42mmol/L, it is hyperuricemia. Because blood uric acid is affected by many factors and fluctuates, it should be measured repeatedly. Urine uric acid measurement (rarely used) After 5 days of low-purine diet, collect urine for 24 hours for testing. Uric acid in urine greater than 3.6mmol is excessive uric acid production, which only accounts for a small number of cases; less than 3.6mmol is reduced uric acid excretion. Uric acid measurement can be used to preliminarily determine the type of hyperuricemia, which is helpful for the selection of uric acid-lowering drugs and the identification of the nature of urinary stones. Strict dietary control Many people with abnormal blood uric acid like to eat foods high in purine and have a bad habit of drinking alcohol. Therefore, the first priority of dietary control is to avoid high-purine foods and alcohol. Avoid high-purine diet. Prohibit high-purine foods, limit purine foods, and reduce exogenous nuclear protein to lower blood uric acid levels and increase uric acid excretion. Common foods can be roughly divided into four categories based on the number of milligrams of purine contained per 100 grams of food. High-purine foods: Animal offal, sardines, fowl, thick chicken soup, meat soup, beer, etc., contain more than 100 mg of purine per 100 grams and are considered purine-rich foods. Polypurines: Most fish, shellfish, meat and poultry contain 50 to 100 mg of purine per 100 grams of food, and are foods high in purine. Foods with more purines: herring, salmon, beef, mutton, chicken, shrimp, crab, asparagus, cauliflower, green beans, kidney beans, spinach, mushrooms, peanuts and other vegetables. The purine content in every 100 grams of food is between 25 and 50 mg, which are foods that contain more purine. Low-purine foods: milk, eggs, rice and pasta products and most vegetables contain less than 25 mg of purine per 100 grams of food, and are foods that contain little or no purine. Prohibition of alcohol Patients with hyperuricemia should strictly abstain from drinking alcoholic beverages of all kinds, because long-term and heavy drinking can lead to increased blood uric acid and lactic acid, which stimulates the increase of purine. In addition, drinking alcohol and eating high-purine foods frequently can accelerate the metabolism of purine, leading to increased blood uric acid levels in the body and inducing acute attacks of gouty arthritis. In addition to diet control, patients should also drink plenty of water (except for those with renal insufficiency) to facilitate the excretion of uric acid. Obese patients must reduce calorie intake and lose weight. They should choose more alkaline foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits, especially alkaline vegetables with high potassium and low sodium, which have a diuretic effect and can promote the dissolution and excretion of uric acid salts. The above is an introduction to the methods and reasons for treating excessive uric acid given by some experts. Everyone should have a certain understanding of uric acid so that they will not be so panicked when the uric acid level is detected to be too high. Excessive uric acid can be regulated. We can choose the correct method to improve the phenomenon of high uric acid and restore kidney function to health. |
