Is prostatitis contagious? How to treat it?

When men have a significant increase in urination frequency or genital pain, they are most likely suffering from prostatitis, but it is often overlooked by patients. When the disease breaks out and is diagnosed, they become flustered, not only worrying that it cannot be cured, but also afraid of infecting their sexual partners. So is this disease contagious? And how can it be treated to be cured?

Most chronic prostatitis is non-bacterial prostatitis, which is not caused by pathogenic bacteria, and no clear pathogenic bacteria can be found in semen or prostatic fluid, so it is not contagious. Even if it is bacterial prostatitis, although there are pathogenic bacteria in the patient's semen or prostatic fluid, the female vagina has a strong ability to resist foreign bacterial infection, so there is no need to worry about transmitting the disease to the wife. However, there is indeed a small part of complicated prostatitis caused by pathogenic microorganisms such as gonococci, mycoplasma, and chlamydia. This part of prostatitis belongs to the scope of sexually transmitted diseases, and patients should avoid sexual intercourse. If necessary, the couple should receive treatment at the same time.

Prostatitis can be treated and prevented. For acute prostatitis, as long as antibiotics are given in time and antipyretic and analgesic drugs are used to treat systemic discomfort, it can be cured in a short period of time and the prognosis is generally good. Although the treatment time for chronic prostatitis is longer, the symptoms are not very obvious. The treatment methods generally include the following: choosing appropriate antibiotics; prostate massage to promote the drainage of prostatic fluid; using warm water for sitting baths 1 to 2 times a day is a simple and effective method; using Chinese medicine for treatment, you can choose Polygonum cuspidatum, Notopterygium wilfordii, Black and White Ugly, Achyranthes bidentata, Borneol, etc.

The editor has analyzed and answered the above questions one by one, so male patients do not need to have too much psychological burden, and can be cured by taking medication easily. However, you still need to take good care of yourself in your daily life. It is best to wear loose cotton underwear and change it every day to maintain hygiene.
